Description
y v23, 1933- J. R. SiLVA Er AL fi a BRUSH HOLDER Filed April 2, 1931 Patented May 23, 1933 UNETE STATES re rea Parent JESUS R. SILVA AND ANTONIO KRAHMER, OF EL PASO, TEXAS BRUSH HOLDER Application filed April 2,
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in brush construction and more particularly to its forms of brushes q used by barber's and for stenciling work.
U One of the principal objects of the invention consists of a handle for the brush having detachable screw threaded connection with the brush head whereby separate brush heads could be used during each shaving operation and discarded thereafter to obviate any possibility of the spreading of skin and other infectious diseases.
With the above and other objects in View, the invention further consists of the follow- 5 ing novel features and details of construction, to be hereinafter more fully described,
illustrated in the accompanying drawing and pointed out in the appended claim.
In the drawing Figure 1 is an elevation of the present invention with a portion of the handle in section to illustrate the particular manner of forming the detachable connection between the handle and brush head.
Figure 2 is a View similar to Figure 1 minus the brush head.
Figure 3 is an elevation of the brush head per se.
Figure at is a View similar to Figure 3 showing the brush head encased in a sanitary transparent packet.
Referring to the drawing in detail wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts, the reference character 10 5 indicates generally a grip or handle portion having a reduced extension 11 protruding from one end thereof andprojected within a sleeve member or ferrule 12 of equal diameter throughout its length. The latter 0 mentioned element extends outwardly for appreciable distances beyond the extremity of the extension 11 and is interiorly threaded, as at 13, to accommodate the exteriorly w threaded portion 14 of a brush head 15.
It will be obvious from the drawing that the smooth interior portion of the ferrule extends from one of the ends thereof and terminates at a point substantially intermediate the ends thereof, whereby the interior threaded portion of the ferrule extends from 1931. Serial N0. 527,254. ,M
the opposite end of the ferrule and merges into the interior smooth portion thereof.
Said brush head has bristles vulcanized or otherwise afiixed thereto and shaped after I the manner of a shaving brush. As understood from the illustration of the invention in Figure l of the drawing, the exteriorly threaded portion of the brush head is detachably positioned within the interiorly threaded portion of the ferrule or sleeve 12. After the shaving operation, the brush head could be readily detached by unscrewing same from the ferrule 12 and dispensed; with to obviate any possibility of the next patron .of the barber shop contracting any skin or other diseases the preceding patron may have been suffering from. In instances where brushes were used for stenciling and the like the brush heads could be submerged in a cleaning solution independently of the handle or handles whereby the users hands would not be brought in contact with the paint.
As shown in Figure 4 of the drawing the brush bristles are dipped or otherwise impregnated to a certain height with a suitable soap solution whereby the user may start lathering the face after dipping the bristles in water.
The invention is susceptible of various 50 changes in its form, proportions and minor details of construction and the right is herein reserved to make such changes as properly fall Within the scope of the appended claim.
Having described the invention what is claimed is: 7
As a new article of manufacture, a combined shaving brush and brush handle holder comprising a hollow ferrule of equal diameter throughout its length and having opposite open ends, said ferrule having an interiorly smooth surface extending from one open end thereof in a direction toward the opposite openend, and terminating midway between the open ends ofthe ferrule for frictionally retaining and receiving therein a reduced portion of a shaving brush handle for the entire length of the interior smooth surface portion of the ferrule, said 199 ferrule for the remaining portion of its length having its inner surface threaded, and the threaded portion of the ferrule merging into the smooth interior surface thereof for threadedly receiving therein the head portion of a sanitary shaving brush.
In testimony whereof We aflix our signatures.
JESUS R. SILVA. ANTONIO KRAHMER.
