My invention relates to a new and useful improvement in a battery post clamp and h as for its object the provision of a battery post clamp which will prevent corrosion.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a clamping member in a battery post clamp whereby the battery post clamp may be easily and quickly moved from clamping to unclamped position.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a battery post clamp having a swngable member for supporting an absorbent pad in lcontact with the battery post.
Another object of the investigation is the provision of a battery post clamp which will be simple in structure, economical of manufacture and highly eilicient in use.
Other objects will appear hereinafter.
The invention consists in the combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter described and claimed.
The invention will be best understood by a reference to the accompanying drawing which forms a part of this specification, and in which,

In tie drawing I have illustrated the invention applied to battery post 10 which projects upwardly from a battery 9. A substantially U shaped clamping member l1 is adapted to embrace the battery post 10, this clamping member having the outwardly turned ends 12 and 13. A sleeve 14 is carried by the battery clamping member 11 to which is attached the cable 15. Projected through the outwardly turned ends 12 and 13 is a bolt 16 on which is threaded the nut 17.
A plate 19 is provided on its undersurface with an absorbent pad 20 which may be satu- 0 rated with oil, parailin, or the like. A tongue are pivoted to the head 18 of the olt 16. As

With a device of this class, corrosion is prevented and a clamp afforded whereby the device may be easily and quickly attached to a battery post.
While I have illustrated and described the preferred form of my invention I do not wish to limit myself to the precise details of structure shown, but desire to avail myself of such Avariations and modifications as may come within the scope of the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A battery post clamp of the class described comprising: a clamping member for clamping about a attery post and having its ends angularly turned and in spaced relation;
a bolt projected through said angularly g5 turned ends; a nut threaded on said bolt; a head on said bolt; a cover swingably mounted on said head; a laterally projecting portion on said cover for overlying the battery post; and cam extensions on said cover for moving said ends into approach upon movement of said cover to operative position.
2. A battery postclamp of the class described, comprising a substantially U-shaped clamping member for clamping about a hattery post and having itslegs projected outwardly beyond one side of said post in substantially parallel relation to each other; a bolt projected through said outwardly projecting portions of said legsg a nut threaded A linger grip 25 projects from one side of 66 on said\ bolt; a head on saidbolt; a cover swingably mounted on said head and a laterally extended portion on said cover adapted, upon movement of said cover to closed position, for overlyin the battery post.
