This invention relates to wreaths and the methods of making the same. It is directed, for example, to wreaths such as used for Christmas decoration and comprising an an- 5 nular core, having a covering therein, it being an object of my invention to provide an improved covering for the wreath, made of one or more strands, each composed of rayon, cotton, floss or cellophane fibers, and wound about the core to completely cover and ornament the same. In accordance with my invention the separate strands are bunched together and wound about a common spool. The bunched strands are then unwound from the spool and wound about the wreath to form a ribbon-like strip during the winding operation producing a highly attractive coating or cover for the wreath.

A further object of the invention is to provide an economical, simple and efficient method of making a highly attractive, rugged and practical Christmas wreath of the char: acter described.

Other objects of thisinvention will in part be obvious and in part hereinafter pointed out.

The invention accordingly consists in the features of construction, arrangements of parts which will be exemplified in the construction hereinafter described, combinations of elements, and of which the scope of application will be indicated in the following claims.

The composite bunched strand 20 on the spool 18 is thereafter wound about the core w 10a in any suitable manner, preferably in the manner and with the apparatus illustrated in my co-pending application, Serial No. 575, 705 filed the 18th day of November, 1931. As

the composite strand 2O isunwound from the spool 18 and wound on the core 10a, said composite strand forms a ribbon-like member and 1 becomes flattened against the core. Since the fibers of the individual strands 150; are not twisted, and since the strands 15a are not twisted when winding the same on the spool 18, the strand 20 unwinds like a ribbon with the strands 15a substantially disposed side byside' and flattens against the core, thus producing a highly attractive, practical and eflicient cover for the core. Thus a simple and cheap ribbon-like member whih makes a highly attractive substantially sheet-like cover having a sheen, is obtained for winding about the core without the necessity for weaving operation to produce the ribbon. The ribbon-like strand 20 covers a substantial widthiof the core in each turn thereof about said core, thus decreasing the number of turns necessary for entirely covering the core.

Obviously, after the strand 20 is completely i wound about the core, the end thereof is tied or tucked in to prevent unravelling.
