44' claims. (c1. 3o`-1z) The present invention relates to a safetyrazor and has for its objecttoprovide a deviceof this nature which is simple in itsconstructiom capable of being easily assembled and disassembled v5 with respect to its various parts, inexpensiveito manufacture,l easy to manipulate, thoroughly-efficient and reliable in use and otherwise well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed,
With the above and numerous other objects in 10 view as will appear as the description proceeds, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts as will hereinafter be more fully described and claimed.
15 In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a side elevation of a razor embodying the features of my invention.
Figure 2 is a sectional view taken substantially on the line 2-2 of Figure 1 but showing 2 the clamp plate closed against the blade on the guard plate,
Figure 3 is a side elevation taken at right angles to that shown in Figure 1.
Figure 4 is a plan View of the blade.
25 Figure 5 is a sectional View taken substantially on the line 5-5 of Figure 3 looking upwardly.
Figure 6 is a similar View looking downwardly showing the blade removed.
Referring to the drawings in detail it will be 30 seen that the numeral 5 denotes an elongated shank enlarged at one end as at 6 and having an interiorly threaded bore 1 in said enlarged end. An externally threaded member 8 is engaged in said bore 1 and intermediate'its ends has an 35 annular outwardly projecting flange 9 engaging the lower or outer end of-the. enlarged end 6 and the member 8 merges into an externally threaded portion I for the reception of an internally threaded cap II adapted to be locked in 40 place by a set screw I2. A tubular member I4 is rotatably mounted over the enlarged end 6 and has one end turned in to provide a 'flange I5 to engage between the cap II and the flange 9. A sleeve I6 has one end threadedly engaged in the 45 upper end of the tube I4. A guard plate I8 is received on the upper end of the shank to rest against'the upper end of the sleeve I6. A clamp plate I9 is engaged on the shank 5 by a screw 20 for cooperating with the guard plate I8 to 50 hold a blade thereon in proper shaving relationship. A bead 2| extends longitudinally of the guard plate I8 and has overhanging portions 22. A blade B is provided with a slot 25 extending from adjacent one end through the other end 55 thereof and adjacent said other end, on opposite sides of `the slot .25, provided with openings 26. vThe clamp plate IS; has pins 21 which are adapt; ed Ato pass through the openings 2 6fand similar openings 28Y in;Y the guard platey I8. The blade is slidrfrom one end so `that the edges of the 'slot 5 .25 are disposed under, the overhanging'edges 22 'of the bead ZI. l Bypturningthe, cap I I, the shank `5 ismoved-longitudinally off the sleeve I6 and the casing I4, the casing I4 being threadedly engaged with the sleeve I6, so that the clamping 10 plate I9 may be disposed in open position as shown in Figures 1 and 3 or in closed or clamping position as shown in Figure 2 as will be quite apparent.
It is thought that the construction, operation, utility and-advantages of this invention will now be quite apparent to those skilled in this art without a more detailed description thereof.
The present embodiment of the invention has been described in considerable detail merely for the purposes of exemplification since in actual practice it attains the features of advantage enumerated as desirable in the statement of the invention and the above description.
It will be apparent that changes in the details of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed or sacrificing any of its advantages.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is:
1. A safety razor of the class described comprising a sleeve, a shank slidable in the sleeve,
a guard plate on the shank resting against one end of the sleeve, a clamp plate fixed to the adjacent end of the shank for cooperation with the guard plate in holding a blade therebetween, a tube xed to the other end of the sleeve and disy posed about the shank, the other end of the shank being enlarged and having an internally threaded bore, an externally threaded member in the bore having an external annular flange intermediate its ends and also having an externally threaded extension, a cap engaged on the extension, a set screw holding the cap on the extension, and said tube having a terminal internally disposed annular flange between the flange on said member and said cap.
2. A safety razor of the class described comprising a sleeve, a shank slidable in the sleeve, a guard plate on the shank resting against one end of the sleeve, a clamp plate fixed to the adjacent end of the shank for cooperation with the guard plate in holding a blade therebetween, a tube fixed to the other end of the sleeve and disposed about the shank, the other end of the shank being enlarged and having an internally threaded bore, an externally threaded member in the bore having an external annular flange intermediate its ends and also having an externally threaded extension, a cap engaged on the extension, a, set screw holding the cap on the extension, and said tube having a terminal internally disposed annular flange betweemthe ange onsaidfmember and said cap, the clampgplate haviugpim projecting therefrom through openings in the guard plate.
3. A safety razor of the class described coin# prising a sleeve, a shank slidable in the sleeve, a guard plate on the shank resting against-,fone end of the sleeve, a clamp plate fixed tojthefadjacent end of the shank for cooperation with the` guard plate in holding a blade therebet'weenfa tube iixed to the other end of the sleeve and;,dis
posed about the shank, the other end of the shank` being enlarged and fhaving angintemallyfthreaded bore, an externallyVT threaded member infthe bore having an vexternaleannular ange "intermediate its ends and Lalso having-an 'externally ttn'ea'ded extension, a cap engage'don theiextensiom aset screw holding the cap on the extensionf-and said tube having aterminalinternally disposed annular iiange between the flange onlsal'd merber'fand said cap, the clamp plate having pins projecting therefrom through openings in the guard plate, and a blade having openings to receive the pins.
4. A safety razor of the class described comprising a sleeve, a shank slidable in the sleeve, a guard plate on the shank resting against one end of the sleeve, a clamp plate fixed to the adjacent end of the-shank for cooperation with the guard plate in holding a blade therebetween, a.tube fixed .tothe :other -end ofthe sleeve and disposed aboutthe shank, the other end of the shank being enlarged and having an internally threaded bore,
v'sauf-externally threaded member in the bore having van external annular ange intermediate its A'fendsfand also having an externally threaded ex- .tensinnfa-cap engaged on the extension, a set screw holding the cap on the extension, and said ftubehavingaterminal internally disposed annular .flange between the flange on said member and said cap, the clamp plate having pins projecting y therefrom through openings 1in the `guard plate,1andatblade having openings to receive V'the pins, saidbladefhaving a slotextendin'g from `adjaeentone'endthroughthe other end thereof, and saidfguard-plate having 'a bead with overhanging vlongitudinal edges under whichthe-edgesof-the slot engage.
