Referring to the drawing wherein like characters of reference designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, the letter B designates generally a base or support of suitable structure which may be either in a horizontal or vertical position, and the numeral I0 designates generally the body of an article clamping member which, as shown in Figure 3, is longitudinally bowed so that the opposite ends of the clamp or holder I0 will be in outstanding position to the face of the base or support B. vThe clamping member ID at a point adjacent each end is provided with apertures I3 which are preferably elongated, and screws or securing members II are adapted to engage in the apertures I3 and the base B. These headed securing members I I tension the body or clamping member I0 against the face of the base B and preferably, the screws I I are so mounted as to permit slight longitudinal movement of the clamping member ID, as will be hereinafter described.
The clamping member ID is provided at each end thereof with a releasing lever I2 which is outwardly offset from the clamping portion or body is an-. improvement over the structure embodied in my application, Serial. No. 712,824, filed February 24, 1934, for Card' ID sothat when the device-is in applied position, the releasing levers I2 will be spaced from the confronting face of the base B. In Figure 4, there is disclosed a modified form of this holder mountedon a base'B and the holder here disclosed'is constructed of an elongated strip ofmetal' I0"p'rovided with a bowed portion I5 at apoint' inwardly from the attaching screw '16. The strip I0 adjacent the other end is provided-with a'reve'rsely bowed portion I1 and the end of'the strip Ii)" is secured'as by a securing member I8 to the base 'B. A releasinglever I2 is integralwith the strip I0 and a fulcrum I4 is formed at the point of connection between the lever- I2- and the adjacent end of the strip I 0'. In'this modified form shown inFigure-4, the bowed portion I5is uppermost and provides a meanswhereby. the article in the form of' a card or the likeam'ayibe readily inserted between the base B. andithe .bo'wed portion II. This bowed portion I5 is tensioned by the attaching member I6 so that the desired tension may be placed on the strip I0 and, in like manner, the screw I8 also acts to tension the opposite or lower end of the strip. v I
In the use of the holder shown in Figures 1, 2 and 3, when it is desired to insert an article between the. clamping member III, a lever I2 is pressed inwardly toward the base B, which action will cause the clamping member ID to be moved into a position spaced away from the adjacent face of the base B and in this position, one or p more cards may be easily inserted between the inner face of the strip I0 and the outer face of the base B. When the lever I2 is released, the inherent resiliency in the strip II] will yieldably clamp the article onto the base B. In the disclosure shown in Figure 4, the article is inserted between the strip I0 and the base, B without pressing the lever I2 inwardly or toward the base as the outwardly bowed portion I5 permits the insertion of the article between the strip II! and the base B, and after the article'has been inserted between this bowed portion I5 and p the base B, it is moved downwardly toward the clamping portion II. When it is desiredto release the article secured by the clamping strip III, the lever I2 is pressed inwardly toward the base B, which movement will rock thelower end of the strip III on the fulcrum I4 and move the lowerend of the strip l0 away from the base B.
What is claimed is:
1. As a new article of manufacture, a holder for holding a'fiat object against a plane surface, comprising an elongated flat resilient strip bowed longitudinally, said strip having an opening adjacent each end, ,and an outwardly offset releasing lever integral with an end of the strip.
2. As a new article of manufacture, a holder adapted to be secured to a plane surfacecomprising an elongated fiat resilient strip bowe'dlongitudinally and having an opening adjacent each end/threaded attaching and tensioning members passing through said openings to mount the strip,
