Description
A ERLEBAOH .Gombinqd ToyWork-Benoh and Tool-Chest. No-198,092.
Patented Dec. 11,1877.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ADOLPH ERLEBAOH, OF BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS.
IMPROVEMENT IN COMBINED TOY WORK-BENCH AND TOOL-CHEST.
' Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 198,092, dated December 11, 1877; application filed October 30, I877.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, AnoLPH ERLEBAOH, of Boston, Massachusetts, have invented certain Improvements in Combined Toy Work-Bench and Tool-Chest, of which the following is a specification:
The object of my invention is to produce, at small cost and in a simple and convenient form, a practical combined toytool-cl1est and workbench; and it consists in the construction, combination, and arrangement of these two articles, in the manner hereinafter set 'forth.
Figure l in the accompanying drawings is a perspective View of the combined structure when set up for use as a bench. Fig. 2 is a vertical section of the same on the line as w of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a detail view of the vise when detached from the bench and arranged to be used as a cabinet-makers clamp or vise. A represents the bench, provided with the detachable legs a, and so constructed as to contain the sliding tool-box B. G is a carpenters vise, adapted to be used with the bench. It is provided with screw 0, which travels in a threaded perforation in the side of the bench, and with guide-pin d, which slides in another smooth perforation below, as clearly shown in the sectional view, Fig. 2. When this vise is to be employed as a cabinetmakers clamp it is withdrawn from the bench, and the auxiliary jaw c, Fig. 3, is applied to it, as therein shown.
b b are pins which are employed in lieu of the ordinary iron dogs, against which is set any piece of stock while being planed. These,
apertures in the bottom of the bench; or they may be attached by any other equivalent means.
When work at the bench is, for the time being, ended, the legs a, vise O, and pins]; 12 are detached and placed with all the tools in the sliding box B, which may, when closed, be secured by any suitable device, as a lock, hook, 850.
In this condition the whole apparatus occupies but small space, and is in the most compact form for packing and transportation, as for purposes of trade, &c.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is v The combined toy work-bench and toolchest herein shown, consisting of the structure A, serving as bench and chest, provided with a detachable legs a, sliding box or drawer B, and adjustable vise 0, when constructed and arranged in the manner and for the purpose set forth.
In witness whereof I hereunto subscribe my name in presence of two attesting witnesses this 25th day of October, 1877.
ADOLPH ERLEBAGH.
Witnesses BENJ. F. HUNT, J r., OTTO GEssNER.
