Description

Sept. 25, 1934. P W MARSHBURN l 1,974,466
NAIL POLISH PACKAGE Filed July 7, 1933 MANDARIN BY 0C front face.
Patented Sept. 25, 1934 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 1,914,466 NAIL PoLrsn PACKAGE Preston W. Marshburn, New York, N. Y., assignor to The Glazo Company, Inc., New York, N. Y., a. corporation of New York Application July 7, 1933, Serial No. 679,308
7 Claims. (Cl. 20G-46) chart 14 along the nail, a quick comparison may be made between the natural tint of the finger nail and the series of tints shown on the chart 14, and a selection of the proper tint of nail polish may-be readily made. 'I'he chart may then be reinserted into the carton Without disturbing the bottle of nail polish therein.
It is of course possible to print these varying shades on the carton itself, but this does not give as convenient a means for comparing the tint ofA the finger nail with the tints shown, and besides this, lit is a source of great economy to print the graduated colors on a separate insert than on the carton itself. By doing this, a paper most appropriate to showing these colors, may be chosen forv the insert whereas such paper may be quite unsuitable for constructing the carton itself.
It is evident that changes may be made in the form of insert, in the shape of the carton, and in the shape of the openings therein, without departing from .the spirit of my invention.
I claim:
1. A nail polish package comprising a rectangular paper carton having a series of perforations on one side thereof, and a detachable insert having a series of graduated tints on one face thereof, the colors on said insert appearing through the perforations in said carton.
2. A nail polish package comprising a rectangular paper carton having a series of perforations on one side thereof, a detachable insert having a series of graduated tints on one face -thereof, the colors on said insert appearing through the perforations in said carton, -and a4 tab on said insert by which the same may be readily detached from the carton.
3. A nail polish package comprising a carton having on one face thereof a series of perforations, a detachable insert within said carton abutting said perforations, and a. series of graduated tints appearing on said insert, the names of one of said tints corresponding to the name of the nail polish in said package.
4. A nail polish package comprising a rectangular paper carton having a series of perforations on one side thereof, a detachable insert having a series of graduated tints on one face thereof, the colors on said insert appearing through the perforations in said carton, and a series of color namesprinted on the carton opposite said perforations, the same series of color names being printed on the insert opposite said color tints.
. 5. A nail polish package comprising a rectangular paper carton having a series of perfo- 110 This invention relates to improvements in packages for nail polishes and more particularly to nail polish packages in which colored nail polishes are sold.
A particular object of this invention is the provision of an improved nail polish package having enclosed therein but detachable therefrom a chart displaying a variety of colors which may be viewed by the purchaser and by which the purchaser may select any one ofw a series of colored nail polishes.
Further objects of the invention will be apparent from the specication and drawing in which Fig. 1 is a perspective "-:iew of my improved nail polish package with the color chart inserted therein.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the detachable color chart by itself.
Fig. 3 is a vertical section on the line 3- 3 of Fig. 1.
10 indicates a box adapted to hold a bottle of nail polish and this box is preferably a folding box constructed of paper suitably printed or lithographed on the outside and having flaps to open the same at the top or bottom thereof constructed in a conventional fashion.
11 indicates a side face oi the carton, 12 a series oi circular perforationsin such side face. 13 indicates the names of the various colors printed on the outside of the carton, 14 indicating the same and matching colors printed on the face of the chart.
15 is the iiap of the chart which extends above the face of the carton ll, and by which the color chart 14 may be readily removed from the box l0. 16 shows a series of graduated color shades varying from very light to very dark red, these color shades being printed or lithographed to simulate somewhat the shape of the human finger nail.
