Description
July 10, 1934. I. JACOBS NONSLIP HAT HOLDER Filed Oct. 21, l935 Patented July 10, 1934 UNITED STATES PATENT ()FFICE 3 Claims.
This invention relates to a non-slip hat holder. One of the main objects of this invention is to provide means which will retain a hat in the desired or prearranged position on a hat supi port and will prevent it from slipping on the support into some undesired and unsightly position.
Another object is to provide a hat holding device which is readily mountable on the customary hat supports used for displaying hats, and iwhich device has an anti-slip exterior for frictionally engaging the hat within its interior and preventing it from slipping out of position on the holder.
These and various other objects and advantages will become apparent from the following description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, in which the invention is shown in its preferred forms, it being understood that various other arrangements and forms of construction may be resorted to for carrying out the objects and purposes of this invention.
In the drawing:
Fig. 1 is an elevational view showing my novel anti-slip hat holder in its preferred form of construction, mounted in position on a customary wire hat support and holding a hat in place thereon.
Fig. 2 is a plan view of this form of anti-slip hat holder.
Fig. 3 is an enlarged vertical sectional View thereof, taken on line 33 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 4. is an enlarged inverted view, looking upwardly on line 4-4 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 5 is a plan view of a modified or further Iimproved form of this invention, shown mounted on a disc-shaped support.
Fig. 6 is a vertical sectional view thereof, taken on line 6-6 of Fig. 5.
The drawing illustrates my invention embodied and applied in two of its various forms of construction, the essential features in each form comprising a hat holder constructed and arranged to fit upon the customary hat support, .so that it can be readily mounted thereon and removed therefrom, said holder having anti-slip means on its upper portion and being shaped and provided with means to engage the interior .of the hat to hold it in position and prevent it from slipping on the support.
The form of this invention illustrated in Figs. 1 to 4 of the drawing comprises an annular hat holder or ring-like member 10 which is of a suitable shape and size to fit upon the usual top ring 11 of the customary hat support 12, whereon hats 13 are generally supported for display. See Fig. 1.
This hat holder 10 is preferably made of rubber material or other anti-slip material, so as to have a firm frictional holding effect on the lining or the inner material of a hat, to prevent the hat from slipping out of the particular position in which it was set or placed thereon. The holder preferably also has additional projecting elements or bosses 14 on its upper outward por- 5 tion which are also of anti-slip material and preferably formed integral with the body part of member 10, as shown in the drawing, so as to provide additional means on the upper part of said member to more firmly engage and press into the inner material of the hat and thereby more positively hold the hat in position.
The hat holding member 10 is also provided with means for holding it securely on the support, and at the same time to facilitate convenient mounting thereof on the usual support and convenient removal therefrom. This means preferably comprises a Washer-like flange 15 of rubber or other flexible material which extends inwardly from the bottom of member 10 and is adapted to be flexed and snapped over the ring 11 of the support to clasp it and retain the holder firmly in position, but enable removal therefrom. Said flange may also be slitted to provide a slot 16, for receiving the vertical stem of the support and to facilitate applying and removing the holder.
In Figs. 5 and 6 I have illustrated a slightly modified form of this invention, wherein I have further provided a Web 1'7 which is secured underneath the annular member 10 and closes it at 0 the lower part. The upper lugs 14 and the lower mounting flanges 15 are provided on this form as in the preceding form.
This form of holder is shown in the drawing as mounted on the top plate or disc 18 which is secured upon the stem 19 of a hat support, and this web 17 is thus effective in covering and bearing on said top disc and in aiding fianges 15' to hold the device more firmly in position thereon.
it is apparent from the above disclosure that this invention in either of its forms provides means for securely holding the hat in its proper position on a support and prevents slipping of the hat into an unsightly position, and that this holder can be manufactured and marketed at a very low cost and will be of great utility.
I claim:
1. A non-slip hat holder comprising a solid ring of rubber material shaped to fit upon a hat support having a substantially circular top supporting portion, said holder having integral projection elements on its upper part to firmly engage the inner material of the hat and prevent it from slipping, and inwardly projecting pliable flange means on the holder to clasp the underside of the support and detachably but firmly mount the holder in position thereon.
2. A hat holder comprising a solid ring of rubber material substantially rounded in cross-section adapted to fit upon the customary top ring of a hat support and having flexible rubber flange means projecting inwardly from its lower side to clasp said ring and facilitate convenient mounting thereon and removal therefrom, and integral projecting portions on the upper part of the holder to firmly engage the interior of the hat and hold it in position thereon.
3. A ring-like holder of rubber material being solid and rounded in cross section having integral projections on its upper part for engaging the interior of a hat and holding it frictionally and firmly in position thereon, a web provided across the bottom of said holder adapted to cover the rounded top part of a hat support, and flexible flange means provided under said holder for clasping said top part to mount the holder firmly on the support and facilitate convenient removal thereof.
ISADORE JACOBS.
