This invention relates to new and useful improvements in a bath spray device. The present application is a refile of abandoned application filed on April 15, 1931, Serial No. 530,245.
5 The invention has for an object the construction of a bath spray device which is characterized by a strap of stiff resilient material, such as rubber or a combination of rubber and webbing, formed in the shape of a collar for encircling the neck or the limbs of a user, and a tubular spraying element upon the strap to direct water against the body.
It is a further object of this invention to arrange a nipple projection from the tubular spraying element for connecting with a water supply hose.
.t is a still further object of this invention to arrange a plurality of spraying nozzles upon the tubular spraying element for the discharge of In the water in fine streams.
It is further proposed to provide a means for adjusting the angular direction of the nozzles so that their discharge against ones body can be controlled.
A still further object of this invention is the provision of means for detachably connecting the ends of the strap previously mentioned so that the spray device may be engaged around ones neck or limbs.
As another object, this invention proposes the provision of a substantially T-shaped nipple arranged with a stern portion projecting from the tubular sprayn element and with the crossed portion engaged within the tubular element.
Furthermore, it is proposed to arrange a plurality of transverse ridges within the strap of the device for acting against ones skin and hold the device stationary.
As another object, it is proposed to arrange longitudinal ridges upon the spraying element for the purpose of forming massaging elements.
As another object, it is proposed to provide a longitudinal reinforcement upon the tubular 4 spraying element so as to keep it in stiff resilient condition.
A. still further object of this invention is to construct a bath spray device which is of simple, durable construction, desirable in use and efiicient in action, and which can be manufactured and sold at a reasonable cost.
For further comprehension of the invention, and of the objects and advantages thereof, refer ence will be had to the following description and accompanying drawing, and to the appended claims in which the various novel features of the invention are more particularly set forth.
In the accompanying drawing, forming a material part of this disclosur zl is a perspective View of a device constructed according to this invention indicated as applied upon ones neck.

The bath spray device, according to this invention, comprises a strap 10 of stiff resilient material in the form of a collar for encircling ones neck, arm, leg, or other parts of the body.
A tubular spraying element 11 is integral with the strap 10. A boss 12 is formed upon one side of the tubular spraying element 11 directly opposite the ends 13 of the strap. A nipple 14, preferably a metal tube, is engaged through the boss 12 so as to connect with the interior of the tubular spraying element. The inner end 15 of the nipple is flared so as to maintain its place. While a boss has been illustrated for supporting the nipple, this is not intended as a limitation, since the nipple could be supported without making use of the boss. Any construction would be satisfactory. A flexible hose 16 is positioned on the nipple and connects with a water faucet 1'7. A plurality of spraying nozzles 18 are formed along the length of the tubular spraying element 105 11 and are directed to discharge water downwards.
A means is provided for clamping the collar upon ones neck or other parts of the body and comprises a snap fastener consisting of a snap 110 fastener stud 19 on the ends 13 and engageable with a snap fastener socket 20 upon the other end 13. A plurality of transverse ridges 21 are formed in the vicinity of the ends 13 and upon the inside of the strap 10 for acting against the skin of the body and holding the spraying device firmly in place. An inner and an outer ridge 22 is formed along the inner and outer peripheries of the tubular spraying element 11 so as to be disposed substantially in the plane which includes the tips of nozzles 18. This construction allows the device to be rubbed upon the skin to produce a massaging effect.
A plurality of ribs 23 are formed along the ridges 22 so as to form roughened surfaces which are quite capable of massage. The strap 10 has its inner side 24 straight. In Fig. 9 a modified construction has been disclosed in which the inner side 24 of the strap is curved. In Fig. 9 a modification has also been disclosed in which only the inner rib 22 is used, and in lieu of the outer rib, a reinforcement 25 is arranged along on the tubular spraying element.
In Fig. 5 a modified construction has been shown in which a nipple 26 of substantially T-shape is used for the connection of the hose 16. This nipple has its outer portion formed with enlarged flanges 27 which act to hold it in place and to hold the hose 13 upon it. The crossed arm 28 of the T-shape is located within the hollow of the tubular spraying element, while the stem portion projects outwards through the boss 12. In Fig. 6 a T nipple has been illustrated which is plain, that is, not provided with flanges. The stem portion of this nipple is indicated by reference numeral 29 and is shown extending from the boss 12 while the cross portion is indicated by reference numeral 20 and is shown disposed within the hollow of the spraying element.
In Fig. 10 another modification of the invention has been disclosed in which a handle 31 is provided by which the device can be manipulated. The handle 31 is shown connected with the boss 12 and the nipple 32 is shown extending through the handle to the hollow portion of the tubular spraying element. The flexible hose may be connected on the extended end of the nipple.
In Figs. 11 and 12 another modification of the invention has been disclosed in which each of the spraying nozzles 18 are provided with an internal metallic tubular portion 33. Rigid arms 34 project from each of the tubular portions 33 and extend into the outer ridge 22. A wire 35 is laced through the outer ends of the arms 34. The ends of the wire 35 are adjustably held by a coupler 36. The coupler comprises a tubular member having right hand threads at one end and left hand threads at the other end engaging corresponding threads upon the ends of the wire. When the coupler 36 is turned it draws together or leaves out the ends of the wire 36 which changes the diameter of the wire so that the arms 34 are tilted to cause tilting of each of the coupler portions 33 and a corresponding change of the direction of discharge of the nozzles 18.
While I have shown and described the preferred embodiment of my invention, it is to be understood that I do not limit myself to the precise construction herein disclosed and the right is reserved to all changes and modifications coming within the scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent is:-
l. A bath spray device, comprising a strip of stiff resilient material formed into the shape of a collar for encircling ones neck or other portions of the body, a resilient tubular spraying element upon said strip, a plurality of resilient nozzles projecting from said tubular spraying element, a plurality of internal tubular members within said tubular spraying element and coaxially upon said nozzles, rigid arms projecting from said tubular members, a wire laced through the free ends of said arms, and an adjustable coupling upon the ends of saidwire.
2. A bath spray device, comprising a strip of stiff resilient material formed into the shape of a collar for encircling ones neck or other portions of the body, a resilient tubular spraying element upon said strip, a plurality of resilient nozzles projecting from said tubular spraying element, a plurality of internal tubular members within said tubular spraying element and coaxially upon said nozzles, rigid arms projecting from said tubular members, a wire laced through the free ends of said arms, and an adjustable coupling upon the ends of said wire, said rigid arms extending into a ridge formed around said tubular spraying element.
3. A bath spray device, comprising a strip of stiii resilient material formed into the shape of a collar for encircling ones neck or other portions of the body, a resilient tubular spraying element upon said strip, a plurality of resilient element, a plurality of internal tubular members within said tubular spraying element and coaxially upon said nozzles, rigid arms projecting from said tubular members, a wire laced through the free ends of said arms, and an adjustable coupling upon the ends of said wire, said rigid arms extending into a ridge formed around said tubular spraying element, a portion of said ridge being cut away in the vicinity of the adjustable coupler to allow access to the latter element.

A bath spray device, comprising a strip of stifif resilient material formed into the shape of a collar for encircling ones neck or other portions of the body, a resilient tubular spraying element upon said strip, a plurality of resilient nozzles projecting from said tubular spraying element, a plurality of internal tubular members within said tubular spraying element and coaxially upon said nozzles, rigid arms projecting from said tubular members, a wire laced through the free ends of said arms, and an adjustable coupling upon the ends of said wire, comprising a tubular element formed with right and left hand nozzles projecting from said tubular spraying H threads at its ends engaged necessarily from the I ends of said wire.

A bath spray device, comprising a strip of T stiff resilient material formed into the shape of a collar for encircling ones neck or other portions of the body, a resilient tubular spraying element upon said strip, a plurality of resilient nozzles projecting from said tubular spraying element, a plurality of internal tubular members within said tubular spraying element and coaxially upon said nozzles, rigid arms projecting from said tubular members, a wire laced through the free ends of said arms, and an adjustable coupling upon the ends of said wire, said rigid arms extending out of the plane of said tubular members.
