Description

TOY
Filed April 26, 1930 Inventor W Allofne m,
Patented Jan. 5, 1932 UNITED STATES IPAUL THOMAS PINO, OF BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA TOY Application filed April 26,
This invention appertains to new and useful improvements in toys and more particularly to a novel toy resembling a pistol for projecting rubber bands.
The principal object of this invention is to provide a toy pistol provided with novel trigger means for releasing a rubber band or similar projectile.
Other important objects and advantages of the invention will become more apparent to the reader after the invention proceeds hereinafter.
In the drawings Figure 1 represents a side elcvational view 1 of the novel toy with a rubber band stretched thereon.
Fig. 2 represents a top plan view of the toy with the parts set as shown in Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 represents a perspective view of the trigger.
Fig. 4 represents a perspective view of the rocker arm.
Referring to the drawings wherein like numerals designate like parts, it can be seen that the novel toy includes a body generally referred to by the numeral 5 and generally resembling a pistol. This body comprises a shank or stock portion 6, a breech portion 7 and a barrel 8, the free end of the barrel 8 being provided with a notch 9 into which the rubber band 10 may engage in the manner shown in Fig. 1.
Pivotally secured to' the breech portion 7 of the body 5 is the L-shaped trigger 11. The heel portion of this trigger 11 is provided with an opening 12 for receiving the pivot member 13. One end of the trigger 11 is provided with a laterally disposed lug 14: which is engageable within the bifurcated end 15 of the rocker arm 16.
The rocker arm is provided with an open- 1930. Serial No. 447,742.
the rubber band 10 to spring forwardly and project beyond the notched end of the 1 barrel 8.
It can be seen that the foregoing specification sets forth the invention in detail and it is to be understood that numerous changes in the shape, size andmaterials may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed hereinafter.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is A toy pistol of the character described comprising a body simulating a pistol barrel and handle, an L-shaped trigger, said trigger being pivotally secured to the body at the heel portion of the said trigger, one end of the trigger being provided with a laterally extending lug, a rockable member on the body, one end of the rockable member being provided with a notch for receiving the lug on the trigger, a rubber band, said band being stretchable between the upper end portion of the rockable member when the lug is engaged inthe notch at the opposite end thereof, and with the barrel portion of the body at the muzzle end thereof.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
PAUL THOMAS PINO.
ing 17 at its intermediate portion to receive 7 the pivot member 18 which is driven into the body 5 forwardly of the breech portion 7.
The upper end of the body 16 will protrude above thetop of the barrel 8 when the lug 14 is engaging within its bifurcated end 15. When the trigger and rocker arm are thus engaging, the rubber band 10 is stretched between the notched end of the barrel and the
