By 7 using; an outwardly convexely curved window, better vision is obtained and there is no refraction when the light passes through the window. The depth of the main frames 2, is such that the window will be positioned the proper distance from the eye of the wearer, the frames being preferably made of sheet metal or other suitably light and strong material. Each main frame 2, is faced on its inner side 5, with rubber 6, or like material, so that the goggles will not irritate the wearer and at the same time enable them to insure a tight fit and prevent dust from entering the goggle. The rubber guard 6, is stitched to the main frame by stitches 7. The curvature of the eyecups is such so as to properly fit the eye. Ventilating openings 8,9, are also provided for each goggle.
In accordance with the invention, each main frame member is provided with an integral shelf or window supporting rim. The metal edge surrounding the window openng in the eye cup is upwardly inclined at 80; so as to form an acute angle with the main frame and so as to provide a transversely projecting shelf 8?) on which the curved window seats itself. In the form shown in Figure 12 the metal edge is reversely bent and the shelf projects inwardly, whereas in the form shown in Figure 13, the edge of the frame is bent,
so as to provide an upstanding edge 80 of substantially the same thickness and so that the shelf 8d projects outwardly. In each case, the shelf is made, when the frame 1s pressed into shape by dies. The flanged portion of the frame thus provides a window re ceiving frame, whose shelf secures an a1r tight fit for the window and whose flanged edge produces a strong frame in WhlCll the curved window fits. As will be seen, the window frame 3 clamps the curved window to the shelf on the main frame 2 by a releasable latch hereinafter described.
Means are provided for swingably joining the main frame and window frame together at their inner portions. Each mainframe 2, is slotted at 10, so as to receive a mounting standard '11, see Figure 5. The standard 11, is provided with a loop and is preferably made of a U-shaped strip of metal. rounded portion projects beyondthe main frame 2, while its free ends are bent at right angles and brazed or otherwise secured to the under side of the inner portion of the main frame 2. The inner end of each of the window frames 3, is formed with an enlarged rearwardly extending flange 12,'which' is slotted at 13, see Figure 6. The slot in the flange 12, is adapted to receive the mounting standard 11, of the main frame of each goggle. The mainframe and the window frame are thus detachably oined together.
Means are provided for pivotally connecting the goggles together. In the form shown in the drawin s these means comprise a bridge or nosepiece 14, see Figures 1 and 7, provided with a central vertical section 15, and an upper and a lower crosspiece 16, 17, respectively, the bridge being cut-out at 18, so as to receive the standard 11, of each main frame, each of which passes through and projects beyond the opening of the respective window frame. The upper and lower hori- Zontal crosspieces l6, 17, are bent at each end thereof, at 18 and 19, respectively, so as to form loops (see Figure 7 Pivot pins 20, are provided, see Figures 2, 3, and 7, which pass thru the loops of the bridge, and thru the standard 11, of the main frame. The goggles may thus be pivotally connected together.
Means are provided for normally securing the outer ends of the window frames to the outer ends of the main frames of each goggle, the said means holding the window in position and being releasable, so that a new window' may be substituted. The clamping pressure between the window frame and the main frame may be increased or decreased; rattling of the windows in the frames is prevented, a dust-proof joint is provided between the frames and windows of varying thickness may be accommodated.
'In the embodiment of the invention shown in Figures 8 to 10, a loop member 21, to the loop of which the head band is connected, made of a. strip of metal reversely folded on itself, is secured to the outer portion of each of the main frames of the goggle at each side of the goggle, preferably by means of rivetspassing thru holes 22 into the frame. A releasablevlatch 23, pivoted at 24c, to the windowframe, carries a screw 25, at its free end. The latch is provided with an opening 26, which cooperates with a circular groove in the stem of the screw25, near its end, the opening 26 being, atfirst, of circular form. After inserting the screw into the opening 26, with its groove in registeringrelation with the opening, the end of the latch is compressed so as to compress and elongate the opening thus retaining and holding the screw on the latch without interfering with the rotational movement of the screw. The loop member is bent at 22c so as to present the screw opening 28 to the screw 25 in the direction of movement of the screw when the latch is closed. To shut the window frame, it is closed by hand against the main frame and the screw is then screwed thru hole 28, into the loop member. The pivoted latch with its screw constitute an adjusting means for adjustably securing the window frame to the main frame.
The arcuate movement of the screw, and the straightening of the flexible swinging link of the latch, from the curved form shown in Figure 9 to the straight form shown in Figure 8, ensure a tight adjusted fit between the window and its supporting shelf. The head need not be detached to open the window frame. r 1
In the second embodiment of the invention, the latch forming part of the securlng means is provided with an adjusting tapered head and screw, and the frames may thus be adjustably secured together.
As shown in the drawings (Figures 14, 15, 16) a latch 31, is suitably secured to the outer end of each window frame 3. Each latch comprises one piece of spring metal, bent so as to form an outer strip 31a, pro vided with a'tapered head 32, having an eye 33, and an under strip 34, see Figures 14; and 15. Both the outer strip 31a and the under strip 34, are provided'at 35, 36, respectively, with elongated, lost-motion openings, which receive a screw 3?. The screw 37, is provided with a tapered head, which fits against the tapered head 32 of the latch. Thethread of the screw 37, passes thru the elongated, lostmotion openings of the latch and enters the screw hole provided at 38, in the main frame of each goggle. By screwing down the tapered head of the screw, it will contact with the tapered head of the latch, and will slide the latch along the main frame (this movement being permitted by the elongated openings 35, 36 of the latch), and when the screw is forced home the two frames are firmly held in position. the two frames may be readily separated as for the removal of the window.
The eye 33 of the tapered head 32, of each latch is adapted to' receive the ends of the head band, which holds the goggles in place, when in use.
Having thus described the invention and its construction, its operation will be clear. It
will be understood that changes may be made in carrying the invention into effect without departing from the principles therelVhat I claim is:

7 Eye goggles comprising in combination,
a pair of eyecups, each eyecup having a main frame and a window frame,a connecting bridge for the eyecups, a loop member to Which the head band may be secured and a latch for releasably securing the window frame to the main frame, the said latch provided with an opening and a screw passing thru said opening, for adjustably securing the window frame to the main frame.

Eye goggles comprising in combination, a pair of eyecups, each eyecup having a main frame and window frame, a connecting bridge, a loop member and a latch having a pivoted link carried by eachvvindow frame at the outer end for releasably securing the Window frame to the main frame, the said link carryin 'a screw, which is adapted to engage an opening carried on the main frame for adjustably securing the Window frame to the main frame.

Eye goggles comprising in combination, a pair of eyccups, each eyecup having a main frame and a Window frame, a connecting bridge, a loop member carried by the outer end of each main frame to which the head band may be secured, the said loop member provided with a screw opening, a pivoted link pivoted to each window frame at its outer end and carrying a screw at its free end adapted to engage the said screw opening, for adjustably securing the window frame to the main frame of the goggles.
