Description
Nov. 17, 1931 .J. PAUCHEK 1,832,500
COMBINED SHOE HORN AND COMB Filed Oct. 2 1930 Patented Nov. 17. 1931 UNITED STATES 1003 PAUCHEK, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
COMBINED SHOE HORN AND COMB I Application filed October 2, 1930. Serial No. 485,910.
This invention relates to improvements in toilet utensils, particularly to a combined shoe-horn and comb, and it is the principal object of my invention to provide an implement of this type allowing a relative displacement of the comb and shoe horn into a comparatively small compass and for the protection of the comb teeth.
Another object of my invention is the provision of a combined shoe-horn and comb equipped with means for guiding the comb and horn during their relative movements.
A further object of my invention is the provision of a combined shoe-horn and comb comprising a shoe-horn curved in cross section provided with a plurality of longitudinal slots for the guidance of pins passed through the comb section and a groove guiding a ridge in the comb-section during the relative displacement of shoe-horn and comb.
A still further object of my invention is the provision of a combined shoe horn and comb of comparatively simple and therefore inexpensive construction, yet durable and efficient T in its operation.
These and other objects and advantages of my invention will become more fully apparent as the description thereof proceeds and will then be specifically defined in the appended claim.
In the accompanying drawings, forming a material part of this disclosure:
Fig. 1 shows in plan view a combined shoehorn and comb constructed according to my invention.
Fig. 2 is a view similar to Figure 1, of a modified form of my device.
Fig. 3 is a plan view of another modification of my invention.
Fig. 4 is a cross-section on line 4-4 of Fi ure 2.
s shown on the drawings, a SllOGB-llOIlPIO, of suitable well known construction and material preferably metal has its body extended at one end, and formed with a ridge as at 11, and formed into a comb having at one edge formed larger teeth 12 and at its opposite edge finer teeth 13.
In Figures 2, 3, and 4, I have shown modifications of my combination shoe-horn and comb in which the shoe-horn 14 has its marginal edges somewhat bent out of the plane of the body and provided with a longitudinal groove or slot 15 in which is longitudinally displaceable a pin'16 headed on both ends and passed through the head 17 of a comb 18 similarly bent as the shoe-horn and having at one of its edges wider marginal teeth 19 and finer teeth 20 at its opposite edge, while equipped with a centrally located and longitudinally extending ridge 21, adapted to guide the comb in slot 15.
In the form of my invention illustrated-in Figure 3, the shoe-horn 22, is also curved in cross-section and is provided with two parallel longitudinally extending slots 23, 24, in which the doubly headed pins 25, 26, are guided passing through the head 27 of the comb 28 having larger teeth 29 formed at one edge and finer teeth at its opposite edge, a ridge 30 is formed with the comb body and is adapted to guide the comb in a groove 31 of the shoe-horn.
It will be clear that the forms of my invention illustrated in Figures 2, 3, and 4, will allow a relative movement between comb and shoe-horn into a comparatively small compass of great value while traveling and for the protection of the teeth of the comb, while the form of my device illustrated in Figure 1 will form a very practical implement for use in the home.
Ihave described and shown the preferred forms of my device only as examples of the many possible ways to construct the same, and may make such changes therein as come within the scope of the appended claim without departure'from my invention.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
A protective device for combs, comprising a body curved in cross-section and equipped with two parallel longitudinally extending slots, and a groove between said slots, 3. head on said comb, a pair of double headed pins passing through said comb head and adapted to be guided in said longitudinal slots, and a ridge on said comb adapted to be guided in the groove of said body for guiding 2 1,eas,eoo
comb and protective device duri their rel tive displacement in longitudin direction to allow a. lateral displacement of said comb against said tgroteetive device and to protect the comb tee Signed at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, this 29th day of September, A. D. 1930.
