Description

Sept. 29, 1931. v, GRUNFELD 1,825,520
ROBE
Filed April 5; 1930 Patented Sept. 29, 1931 UNITED STATES FRANZ VIKTOR GRTTNFELD, OF BERLIN, GERMANY ROBE Application filed April 5, 1930.
v The present invention relates to improvements in or relating to robes, particularly robes for use by drivers of motor vehicles.
It has been found that drivers of motor vehicles and others who for any reason require to be wrapped up and at the same time to have their feet free and unobstructed so as to be able to operate pedal controls, for example, find great diliiculty in effectively protecting themselves against the cold by the use of ordinary robes.
It is the object of the present invention to overcome this difficulty and to provide an improved robe, which will effectively protect the legs of motor drivers from cold.
According to the present invention there is provided a robe particularly suitable for motor drivers having slits through which the feet may be put.
0 In order that the driver may be well wrapped up, and particularly to protect the ankles, theslits are preferably provided with suitable closing means so that the slits may be partially closed up after the feet have been passed through so as to fit snugly around the ankles. A suitable closing means for this purpose is provided for example by slide fasteners arranged along the edges of the slits.
Other objects and advantages will appear more fully from the following description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawing.
The figure of the drawing shows the preferred form of the invention.
The robe a is provided with slits or openings b in the lower part through which the feet are put. The slits are then closed around the legs from the top end towards the bottom by the slide fastener 0. In this way,
'10 the slits are closed, only leaving openings which fit snugly around the legs of the wearer. The slits may also obviously be fully closed so that the robe may be used as an ordinary robe or blanket. The slits termilo nate inwardly of the edges of the robe and are therefore closed at their lower ends.
It will be seen that by the use of such a robe a motor driver may be well protected whilst at the same time his feet are free to actuate the control pedals.
Serial No. 441,864.
If desired other apertures or slits may be provided in the robe for the passage of the arms.
Having now particularly described and ascertained the nature of my said invention, and in what manner the same is to be performed, I declare that what I claim is A robe for motorists having unobstructed slits in the lower portion thereof terminating inwardly of the edges of the robe adapted to receive the feet therethrough, and means eX- tending the full length of said slits for closing said slits for varying distances from one end towards the other end thereof to provide openings to snugly receive the legs of the wearer or to close said slits entirely.
DR. FRANZ VIKTOR GRUNFELD.
