Description
OFFICE.
GEORGE E. HART, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
IMPROVEMENT IN HAIR-CRIMPERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 182,522, dated September 26, 1876; application filed June 19, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE E. HART, of the city of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented certain novel and useful Improvements in Devices for Curling and Crimping Hair; and I hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which are lettered to correspond with and form a part of the specification.
To enable the public to understand the nature thereof and those who are skilled in mechanics to construct the same, I will describe it as follows, to wit:
Figure 1 represents my improved curler and crimper A closed. 1 2 3 are wire arms, hinged /t6gether by a pin or otherwise, as shown at 4,
which enables said arms or rods to be opened or closed at the will of the operator. Rod 1 is provided with a ring, R, at its outer end, which serves as a clasp to secure the rods in the position shown in this drawing.
Fig. 2, A represents the arms or rods 2 and 3 extended, to receive the hair for either crimping or curling, after which they are turned in the position shown at Fig. 1, and'secured by the ring R, or an equivalent fasten- 111g.
In another application of mine for a patent, now pending before the United States Patent Office, is described a hair-crimper, composed of .two revolving rods of either flat or round wire for curling or frizzlin g hair. Therefore, such forms no part of this application; but my present invention consists in the use of a series of three-wire rods, either flat or roundfolded, and secured together in the manner set forth and shown in the drawings. Th 1a fore, I disclaim spring-plates pivoted toge her as set forth in Patent No. 76,401; but
What I claim as novel and useful, andwish to protect by Letters Patent of the United States, isp The hair-crimper composed of the adjustable round wire rods 1 2 3, of equal lengths, in combination with the ring R, secured to either rod, all arranged to operate in the manner and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe my name in the presence of two witnesses.
GEORGE E. HART.
