I I Objects I An object of the invention is to provide an improved shade bracket which w ll be supported upon the uppersash of a wlndow, and so arranged that it may he bodlly swung to 15 extend parallelwith said sash, or removed when it is desired to slide one sash past the other.
-Another object of the invention is to provide an improved shade bracket with means whereby the same may be detachably secured to a window sash, and with means for securingia shade roller in the bracket when positionedtherein. I
Other objects will appear asthe description proceeds.
Drawings In the accompanying drawings which form line 2-2 of Figurel;
Figure '3 is a perspective group view of the shade hanger. a I
1 Like characters, of reference are used throughout the following specification and the accompanying drawings to designate corresponding parts.
' I Description Injthe drawings, I have 'illustrated the usual form of window frame 1, and upper sash 2 and lower sash 3, slidable within said frame. I 7
It has heretofore been necessary to mount the shade andshade brackets at the sides of the window frame 1, above the sashes, but I have devised an improved and efi'icient form Patent of the United States is:
of shade hanger which may be mounted on the side pieces of the sashes, and may be removedbodily, or swung out of the way, when itis desired to slide one sash by the other. I have provided a U shape supporting member 4, having laterally extending fasten,- ing wings 5, which in turn are provided with openings" 6, through which fastening screws may be placed. The bottom or intermediate v portion of the member 4 extends parallel With L the fastening Wings 5, but lies in a plane spaced from the plane of said wings. A locking slot T is formed in the member 4, extend ing approximately half the depth of said member, and in the connecting portion between said intermediate portion and a fastening wing. a I The shade hanger proper comprises a base member 8 having a slot 9 formed therein and adapted to be received within the supporting member 4;, behind the bottom portion there of, with the slots 7 and 9 cooperating with each other. The hanger is bent forwardly at right angles to the base 8 and is provided with the usual notch 10 adjacent its free end to receive the pintle of a shade roller. A latch 11, of substantially U-shape in cross section is pivoted to the forwardly extending portion of the hanger and is adapted to lock down over the notch 10 to retain the roller in fixed position therein, while a tab 12 extends outwardly from the free end thereof to enable one to grip the latch to manipulate the same. 8 Many minor changes in detail of construction may be resorted to without departure from the spirit of the invention. j
Having thus described my invention what 1 claim as new and desire to secure by Letters A shade bracket as characterizedcomprising a member adaptcdto be fixed to a window sash or the like and a member adapted to be removably Supported y thefixed memben said removable member having a flat base portion and an outstanding hanger portion, said fixed member having side flanges in a common plane and an intermediate portion offset from the plane of said flanges by ottsetting portions substantially the thickness of the material comprising the removable member, one of said ofi'setting portions having its upper part cut away for providing a,
1 downwardlyfextending slot at one side edge of the ofi'set portion between the ofiset por tion and one of the flanges, whereby the flat base portion of the removable member may extend 's'traiht through the slot partly be e yoncl the offset portion and partly in front m of the flange in fiatwise engagementwith both the offset portion and the fiang'e, said base portion having an upwardly-extending slot to receive the lower part or" the offsetting por V v tionofthefixedmemberbelow the downwardly-extencling slot of said fixeol member and" having, a idth from the upwardly-extende ingslotto the freeehgl of the, base portion S bistantielly the Widthof the oifset portion; v whereby the fixed member and removable 39 ember: may be of substantially the same heightand theremovable meinber will be re tained against twisting inany direction; I i GOLDFINGER.
