A wall light of the flush type adapted .to be imbedded in a building wall structure, comprising a casinghaving an open side, a lamp mounted within said-casing, a closure plate for the open side of-said casing and adapted to extend vertically with the edges substantially flush with the wall surface,said closure plate having an outwardly pressed portion arranged to form a'downwardly and" outwardly inclined light directing hood and the frame-of a substantially rectangular light emitting opening, the remaining face of said plate being substantiallyfiat, said light emitting opening extending substantially fromtheface of said closure plate to the forward edge of said hood, a plurality of parallel louver members disposed transversely across said opening to conceal the, source of light 7' when viewed at any angle except directly, and means for attaching said casing to said wall I structure rearwardlyof said wall surface.
