Description
J. LOHMANN Aug. 4, 1931.
PLASTER BANDAGE WITH WOUND OR HEALING PAD Filed Oct. '7. 1930 Pillilll l klll .IIIIILIIIIL Patented Aug. 4, 1931 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE,
JOHALNNES LOHMANN, OF FAHR-ON-THE-RHINE, GERMANY, ASSIGNOR TO THE FIRM LOHMANN AKTIENGESELLSCHAFT, OF FAHR-WOLLENDORF, GERMANY PLASTER BANDAGE WIT H WOUND 0R HEALING PAD Application filed October 7, 1930, Serial No. 487,030, and in Germany April 26, 1929.
Plaster bandages with wound or healing pads are already known, which have a sup port of non-elastic material.
According tothe invention the support for the wound or healing pad applied in the shape of a continuous band is made elastic transversely to the direction of the band. The elasticity enables a wound to be drawn together by the bandage. In the direction of the band the support is not and must not be elastic, because a support elastic in the band direction would pull away from the wound or healing pad. A known material is used as support, which has overtwisted weft or warp threads, which impart elasticity only in one direction.
An embodiment of the invention is illustrated by way of example in the accompanying drawings in which:
Fig. 1 shows the bandage in top plan view.
Fig. 2 isv a cross-section on line AB of Fig. 1.
The support 1 is provided with a wound or healing pad 2 in the -shape of a continuous band and the side of the bandage 1 carrying the pad is coated with a plaster mass 3.
In Fig. 1 the stretching direction ofthe support is indicated by arrows, whereas the dotted lines show the position of the edges of the support 1 in stretched position.
Strips of any desired size can be out 01f from the end of the rolled plaster bandage.
I claim:
An adhesive plaster bandage comprising, in combination, a pad longitudinally coextensive with saidbandage and adapted to be medicated, a supporting web to which said pad is adapted to be secured, said web being wider than said pad, whereby lateral securmg strip portions are provided on either side thereof, a layer of adhesive material applied to one surface of said web, and said web being elastic only in a direction transversely of said bandage, whereby it may be applied longitudinally of a wound and serve to draw said wound together.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
. JOHANNES LOHMANN.
