Description

, Patented Jam.- 30, 1931 d i 1,811,935 a UNITED STATES PATENT; OFFICE mum-Enronnn Hun, or nors-sumnam reason 11c Drawing. Application filed April 29, 1929, Serial No. 359,167, and in France March 18, 1929.
The present invention relates to a process I claim: I for the manufacture of agglomerated 'p'r'od- A process for the manufacture of agglomucts from the dust or waste of anthracite erated products from coal dust, comprising or other mineral fuels. The said powder or the steps of mixing the coal dust with an agwaste, after a preliminarydrying in retort glomerat ng materiahcomposed of 65% pefu naces heated to 1200 C., is ground to a rqlelun p1t h,'24% mazout, and 6% none powder, which is then loaded into mixox1d1z mg vegetable 01l;.t cn ggl meratlng ing and inding apparatus together with a the mlxture; and finally cOklIlg theagglomers uitable inding substance, which according ate thus obtained.
1Q to the invention comprises petroleum pitch, In imony whereof I'afiix y Si ll' i 49 then adding the vegetable oil and the water.
" heavy petroleum oil, such as mazout, anda I MARC/EL HIPPOLYTE vegetable oil. The mass thus mixed is placed a in presses in which the agglomerated prodnets are given the required shape, in the V 15 known manner. 00
The said agglomerated products are then placed in ovens heated to a temperature of 300-400 C. in which they are "converted into coke. The duration of the treatment in the 3 ovens is usually 1% hours. It may vary according 'to the nature of the fuel.
The said binding substance, which consists of petroleum pitch, heavy petroleum oil and vegetable oil, constitutes the essential feature of the invention. In practice, this material consists of the following mixture:
, Y Per cent I v {{etroleum pitchh l 65 N azout or ot er ea tro eum oil 24 30 Cotton seed oil until 6 a Water I 5 Obviously, these proportions are given sole- 1y by-way of example, instead of the cotton seed oil, any other vegetable oil can be used. The said substances are-mixed at a tem- 1 perature of about 60 C. and the petroleum pitch and the mazout are first mixed together,
The binding substance thus prepared is added to anthracite dust or waste, the proportion being 5 to 25 per cent forthe bind ing substance and to 75 per cent of the 45 anthracite dust or waste.
