-' object an on and off light effect, which may be produced in any desired color or in varying colors, such as red and green, or red,
green and yellow, or any combination of colors, although primarily designed for eniancing the appearance of a statue or other object by imparting thereto an on and off light effect to enhance the appearance, and may also be employed for advertising or for attracting attention and is useful in various :elations as in show windows, where an on and off or light effect in one or more colors is desired, or in connection with signs and advertising matter.
Further objects of the invention are to provide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, a light efiecting device for the pur pose referred to which is simple in its construction and arrangement, strong, durable, compact, thoroughly efiicient in its use, readiiy assembled and comparatively inexpensive to manufacture.
With the foregoing and other objects in view the invention consists of the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts as hereinafter more specificallydescribed, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings wherein is shown an embodiment of the invention, but it is to be understood that changes, variations and ,modifications can be resorted to which fall within the scope of the claims hereunto appended.
In the drawings wherein like reference characters 1 denote corresponding parts throughout the several views Figure 1 is a side elevation partly in sec tion of a light effecting device in accordance with this invention showing the adaptation. thereof with respect to a statue.

Figure 3 is an elevation of a combined de-- flector and supporting element.
. Referring to the drawings in detail, 1 denotes a base provided with foot pieces 2 for supporting it. The base is formed with a lower face of the base 1 and has threadedly pair of spaced'openings 3, 4 and between said openings has extending upwardly from its upper face an integral socket forming mem* her 5 disposed transversely with respect to said upper face. The socket provided by the member 5 is indicated at 6.
Arranged over the rear of the base 1 is an upstanding lamp socket 7 provided with a switch 8 and leading in Wires 9. The socket 7 includes a depending portion 10 of greater 6 diameter than opening 4 and extending from portion or part 10 is a sleeve 11, of less diameter than the diameter of the portion or part 10. The sleeve 11 depends below the engaging therewith a nut 12, whereby socket 7 is coupled to the base 1 in an upright position. Connected to socket 7 is a somewhat elongated lamp13 of cylindrical cross sec tion. The length of the lamp 13 is materially greater than the length of the socket 7.
Frictionally engaging with the upper part of the lamp socket 7 is a vertically disposed, split, resilient reflector 14 of cylindrical contour and which is of a length to extend a substantial distance above the top of the lamp 13 when the reflector 14 is secured to socket 7. The reflector 14 is formed with an open top. The reflector 14 is 'so constructed that when in detached position the diameter will grad- 8 length than the length-of the lamp and is 1 arranged at the front of the latter.
Fixedly secured within the upper end of the reflector 14, a substantial distance below the top edge of such reflector and also spaced from the top 16 of the lamp 13 is a diametri cally extending bar 17 provided centrally of its upper face with a vertically disposed, tapered supporting pin 18 for a revoluble light color changing element to be presently referred to. The pin 18 projects a substantial distance above the top of the reflector 14-.
The light color changing element is referred to generally at 19 and includes a tubular body 20 of thin transparent material of a suitable color or a combination of colors. Arranged within the body 20, near its lower end and seating in a groove 21 provided on *he inner face of the body 20 by an outset portion 22 is a reinforcing ring which snugly engages the wall of the groove 21. Arranged within the body 20 substantially centrally thereof and snugly engaging the inner face of such body is a reinforcing band 2st. Surrounding the outer periphery of the body 20,
in proximity to the upper end of the latter is a reinforcing ring 25.
Fixedly secured to and within the element 19 in proximity to the top thereof, is a propeller 26 having a plurality of upstanding, inclined blades 27. Secured to the propeller 26, axially thereof is a vertically disposed socket forming member 28 which is open at ts bottom. The socket provided by the member 28 is indicated at 29. The pin 18 extends into and supports the member 28 from the upper end of the latter and by this arrangement said pin provides an axis for evolubly supporting the propeller 26. The heat from the lamp 13 acting upon the blades 27 of the propeller 26 will provide for the revolving of the latter, and as the propeller 26 is fixedly secured to the element 19 the latter will be carried with the propeller.
The element 19, when in supporting position extends from a point below the exposed portion of the lamp 13 to a point a substantial distance above the top of the reflector 14:. The diameter of the element 19 is materially greater than that of the element 14.
Mounted in the socket 6 and arranged forwardly of and in close proximity to, but spaced from the element 19 is a light diffusing member 30 of a width greater than the diameter of element 19. The member 30 is formed of suitably colored translucent material and extends above the top of element 19.
Arranged forwardly of member 30, as well as being spaced therefrom is a statue 31 having thereon an off and on light effect to enhance the appearance thereof. The light rays emitted through the passage or opening 15 pass through the element 19, the latter rhanging the color of the light rays and the colored rays then pass through the member 30 and fall upon the statue 31 imparting thereto an on and off light effect of different colors. The statue is formed with a depending extension 32 which projects through the opening 3. A nut 33 is carried by the extension 32 for coupling the statue 31 to base 1.
WVhat I claim is: 1. In a device for the purpose set forth, a base provided on its upper face with a socket,
a vertically disposed light diffusion member mounted in said socket, an upstanding light source coupled to the base rearwardly of said member, an object coupled to the base forwardly of said member, a vertically disposed, resilient, cylindrical reflector split from end to end surrounding the light source, said reflector gradually increasing in diameter from its lower to its upper end, the split ends of said reflector being arranged in spaced relation to provide a light ray passage, a diametrically disposed bar secured within said reflector adjacent the larger end of the latter and provided on its outer face with a tapered pin and a revoluble light ray color changer element supported upon the pin and enclosing the reflector when interposed between the reflector and said member.

In av device for the purpose set forth, a reflector comprising a resilient cylindrical body for surrounding a light source, split from end to end and gradually increasing in diameter from its lower to its upper end, the split edges of said body arranged in spaced relation to provide a light ray passage gradually increasing in width from the bottom to the top of the reflector.
3. In a device for the purpose set forth, a combined reflector and light ray color changer supporting element comprising a resilient, split cylindrical body for surrounding a light source, said body gradually increasing in diameter from its lower to its upper end and having the edges of the split thereof providing a light ray passage, and a diametrically disposed bar secured within said body adjacent the larger end and provided 011 its outer face with a tapered pin forming means for revolubly SUPPOIlllng the color changer.
4. In a device for the purpose set forth a revoluble light ray color changing element comprising a colored, translucent tubular body having a reinforcing annulus therein centrally thereof, the body of said annulus being rectangular in transverse cross section, a circumferentially extending, reinforcing means near one end thereof, and an annular reinforcing means of circular cross section seated in its inner face adjacent its other end.
5. In a device for the purpose set forth, a base provided with a vertical forward opcning, a socket forming member on its upper face and a vertical rear opening, said openings and member providing respectively for connection upon the rear and front of the base alight source, an object to be acted upon and a light diffusing member between the source and object.
