This invention relates to a device for scraping the tongue, the general object of the invention being to provide a device'having a handle and a part bent at right-angles to a;- the handle, with a curved and beveled edge so that this edge can be drawn over thetongue to scrapethe same, with a recess at the point of junction of said part with the handle, which forms a cup to receive material scraped If) from the tongue.

This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in 12; the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in theappended claim.

In describing the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or o if.) corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which *igure 1 is a bottom plan view of the device. J

In these views, the numeral 1 indicates the handle of the device, and 2 indicates a thickened enlarged end of the handle. A flange 3 is formed at the extremity of this enlarged part, this flange extending at rightangles to the handle andsaid flange has its edge curved and beveled, as shown at 4:- A recess 5 is formed in the enlargement at that side which carries the flange, this recess forming a cup to receive the material scraped from the tongue by the flange.

In the modification,the flange 3 is formed on a part 6 which is of angle shape'and this part 6 is fastened by a rivet 7 to theenlarged part 2' of the handle. This enlarged part 2' is of forked construction so that the space '7 between the fork forms the recess, the part 6 forming the bottom of the recess.

It is to be understood that changes may be made in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.

l/Vhat I claim is A device of the kind described, comprising a straight handle having a flattened laterally spreading end portion provided with a cutaway area to form a depression therein, the wall of the depression being outwardly beveled, and a straight flange confronting the depression and disposed at right angles to the plane of the handle, said flanges having a working edge beveled throughout.
