The present invention relates to store front constructions and more inl particular to a novel cap constructionadapted to'overlieior abut the adjacent 'ends of thesash members.
Among the objects of the invention is toV provide a novelcap construction for covering or Connecting the ends of adjacent sash members, these sash members mounting and retaining the adjacent panes of glass in posi@ tion. .Y Y if A further object is the provisionof a novel cap Construction and means for mounting and retaining the same in a'position whereby to cover or connect the 'endsof the -sash moldlings.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a novel retaining means for a cap member whereby to permitV accurate 'and ready mounting and positioningv of thejcap member with the adjacent ends of the sash members. TheV invention comprehends the provision of a sectional cap construction in which one of the members `is provided with 'a projection and the other with'fmeans for receiving and retaining said projection whereby to hold the cap member in predetermined mounted position. The invention further. resides in the `combination, construction and arrangements'xof parts illustrated inthe accompanying drawings and while there is shown therein a preferred embodiment it isto be understood that the same issusceptible'ofmodification Vand change and Comprehends other details and constructions without ldeparting from" the spirit of the invention. Referring more in detail to the construction disclosed in the drawings in connection with a window or storefront construction, which however is but one embodiment of the invention, the sashv construction comprises outer molding members l and inner members 2 which are-adapted to be mounted upon a sill or base A, the outer molding being provided with glass engaging `portion 3 while the inner molding is provided 'with glass en gaging portion ,4,1 these portions being adapted to seat against'the glass and retain the same `in adjusted position. In' order to sustain the weightofthe panes of glass 5 the sash members are provided with setting blocks 6` having a face or cushion 7 of leather or the like with which the lower edge of the glass is in Contact.
The present invention comprehends a novel cap construction which comprises an outer section or cap member( 8 and an inner section or bracket 9, the former having in the present instance, the same general contour as the outermolding or sash members l and adapted to conformably seat thereon or thereagainst,
and provided witha rearwardly extending tongue or projection 1Q adapted to tensionally seat within spaced spring flanges or lips l1 formed on the inner section or bracket 9.
,The tongue or projection 10 is serrated and is adapted to be received intermediate the inner surface to suitably engage and retain the tongue or projection. The rear section or bracket 9 is provided with outwardly extending ears 12 having openings 13 therein whereby these ears may be suitably attached to the Hoor or the gutter of the sash members so as to mount and retain the bracket member. kIn Fig. 5 is disclosed a construction for a reverse corner in which the cap member 8a is formed at a reverse angle to that disclosed in Fig. 2 and provided with atongue or projection 10a. In this construction, the sides 16 of the cap member 89J may overlievthe sash members, or these side members may merely abut thereagainst, as for example, where the sash members'are of heavy or extruded metal. In this form, the sides or frame members 26 and 27 of the mirror or window are disclosed as mitered, the cap member 28 being positioned to overlie or abut the ends` of the' frame members. The tongue orprojection 29 passes( between theseframe members and is adapted to be attached by means of a bracket or lug, similar in construction to that shown `in Fig. 6. This invention is also adapted for door constructions or panel constructions of various kinds, in fact, wherever moldings, sash or frameA members are employed for retaining panes of glass or panels of various forms and descriptions.
By reason of the present construction and arrangement, the invention comprehends a snap-on cap which may be readily applied and assembled as well as disassembled. I/Vhether the cap member is for a corner, division or reverse construction the details would be the same except for the angle of the cap members so that the construction has a universal application.
Having thus disclosed the invention, I claim: l

In a store frontconstruction provided with sash members for retaining adjacent panes of glass, a cap member adapted to connect the ends of adjacent sash members, said cap member being provided with a tongue adapted to project intermediate the sections of glass, and spaced members for frictionally Y engaging saidtongue therebetween for re- In Fig. 6 is disclosed another embodimentY taining said 'cap member in position.

In a storel front construction provided with sash members for mounting and retaining panes of glass, a cap construction for connecting the ends of the adjacent sash members, said construction comprising a cap adapted to overlie the ends ofl the outer sash members, a projection on said cap, and spaced members adapted to interengage with said projection for retaining the cap -in position.
3. A cap construction for joining the ends of the adjacent frame members, said construction comprising a cap adapted to join the ends of the frame members, a projection on said cap, a bracket member, and spaced lips on said bracket member for receiving and frictionally engaging said projection for retaining the cap in position.
4. A cap construction for connecting the ends of the adjacent frame members, said construction comprising a cap adapted to join the.. ends of the frame members, a bracket member, and spaced members on said bracket member adaptedl to interengagewith a part on said cap for retaining the cap in position.
5. In a store front construction provided with sash members for mounting panes of glass, and acap construction for joining the adjacent ends of the sash ymembers, said cap construction comprising a cap section adapted to abut the ends of thesash members and provided with a. projection and a retaining section adapted to frictionally engage the projection of. said cap section for retaining the cap in position. 6. A cap construction forconnecting the adjoining ends of the frame members, said cap construction comprising a cap section adapted to join the ends oli' the frame members, a tongue on said section, and a retaining section provided with spaced lips adapted to receive and retain the tongue therebetween. 7. A cap construction for connecting the adjoining ends of frame members, said cap' construction comprising a cap section adapted to connect the ends of the frame members, a tongue on said section, and a retaining section provided with spaced lips adapted to receive and retain the tongue therebetween, said tongue and lips being formed with serrations whereby to provide gripping surfaces.
8. A cap construction for connecting the' ends of frame members, said cap construction comprising a cap member provided with a rearwardly extending projection and a brack-4 et member provided with spaced ianges for' receiving and retaining said projection whereby to retain the cap member in position.
9. A cap construction for connecting the ends of frame members, said cap construction comprising a cap member provided with a rearwardly extending projection and a bracket member provided with spaced flanges for receiving and retaining said projection whereby to retain the cap member in position, the contacting portions of said projection and flanges being serrated.
10. A cap construction for joining the ends of adjacent frame members, said construction comprising a cap member and a retaining member, and spaced lips on one of said members for receiving and frictionally engaging a projection on the other of said members whereby to retain the cap member in position.
11. A cap construction for connecting the adjoining ends of frame members, comprising a cap section and a retaining section, spaced lips on one of said sections and a tongue on the other of said sections adapted to be received and retained intermediate said lips whereby to retain the cap section in adjusted position.
