eneath the sleeve 15 in each lock there is oscillatably mounted upon the pin 21 which extends transversely between the plates 6 and 7, a latching finger 22 which when oscillated upwardly upon the pin 21 comes into position before the face of the stop lug 18 and oper-- ates to prevent the rotation of the sleeve 15. This latch finger 22 has an extension 23 with which is engaged a spring 24 carried between the plates, which normally depresses the latch to prevent it interfering with the oscillation of the sleeve.
The latch finger 22 has formed integral therewith adjacent its pivoted end and depending beneath the pivot pin, a contact plate 25 which normally positions against the face plate 5 and overlies an aperture 26 in this plate. These apertures 26 of two adjacent locks are aligned transversely of the stile post 1 disposed therebetween.
Upon one side of the vehicle body upon the stile post is secured a unit 27 comprising inner and outer spaced parallelplates 28 and 29 separated by interposed longitudinally extending bars 30. One of these plates as for example, the plate 28 has a longitudinal rib 31 extending longitudinally of its inner face, which rib engages in a suitable groove 32 extending longitudinally of one face of a downwardly pointing wedge member 33. This wedge member is disposed to slide longitudinally of and between the plates 28 and 29 and has the downwardly converging cam faces 34, each of which engages one end of a reciprocable pin 35 which is mounted in a bar 30 to shift transversely thereof. These pins 35 are in alignment transversely of the unit 27 and are also aligned with the apertures 26 in the adjacent lock face plates. Spring elements 36 engage the pins 35 and normally tend to draw them inwardly when the wedge 33 is shifted toward the upper end of the unit of which it forms a part.
At the opposite side of the vehicle body from the unit 27 there is mounted a unit similar to the unit 27 which is indicated as a whole by the numeral 37.
This unit 37 also has a wedge member which is indicated by the numeral 38 and which is mounted upon the inner plate 39 thereof to slide upon the v longitudinal rib 40. This wedge member 38 has the converging cam faces 41 directed upwardly instead of downwardly as the wedge 33, this wedge 38 is an open frame 42 which is at the bottom thereof.
Mounted in the stile post 1 adjacent the unit 37, is a lock 43 which is key-operated and which is of the type which has a central shaft 44 which is rotated by the operating key. This shaft 44 of the lock 43 extends through the stile post and into the frame 42 and upon its inner end it carries a cam finger 45 which is housed in the frame 42 as illustrated in Figure 5. It will thus be seen that upon actuation of the lock 43 the cam finger 45 may be oscillated against one wall of the frame so as to shift the wedge member 38 longitudinally of the unit 37. This wedge member 38 has each of its cam surfaces 42in contact with one end of a reciprocable pin 46 and the two pins of this unit are'aligned as shown and like the pins 35 are normally drawn inwardly by the springs 47. These pins, as will, of course, be understood, operate to actuate contact plates 25 of locks adjacent thereto.
Extending across the vehicle body from the unit 27 to the unit 37 is a tube 48 in which is a flexible wire 49. At one side of the vehicle body this wire is connected to the downwardly directed point of the wedge 33, while at the other .side it is connected with the frame 42, as shown inFigure 5. This tube is set in a suitable groove or recess 50 in the stile post so as to be flush with or beneath the inner faces thereof the same as the locks and the units 27 and 37 respectively.
From the foregoing it will be readily apparent that upon the actuation of the lock cam finger 45 the wedge '38 will be forced upwardly to project the pins 46 outwardly against contact plates 25 of the adjacent door locks and through the medium of the wire 49 the wedge 33 of the locking unit 27 will be drawn downwardly and will thus project the pins 35 outwardly against the contact plates of the locks between which this unit is mounted. It will thus be seen that by the manipulation of one locking key all four of the vehicle body door locks will be secured so that the bolts thereof cannot be reciprocated for each of the latching fingers thereof will be shifted into the position where it will abut the face of the stop lug 18 adjacent thereto and thus the associate sleeve 15 cannot be oscillated to shift the lock bolt.
While the present description has been confined to a motor vehicle body it will, of course,
be apparent that this locking mechanism may be used in other capacities and it may also be employed for locking remotely positioned or related single doors as well as remotely related pairs of doors.

Securing mechanism for a pair of remotely related door members, comprising a lock carried by each door, a bolt carried by each lock for engaging an adjacent keeper, means for actuating the bolt of each lock, a latching element in each lock oscillatable to secure the actuating element against movement, means mounted upon a fixed structure adjacent each door lock for oscillating said latch, and means connecting said last mentioned means for effecting the simultaneous actuation thereof.
3. A motor vehicle door securing mechanism for doors upon the two sides of the vehicle, com rising a lock for each door including a olt desi ed to engage a keeper to secure the door 1n closed position, means for actuating the bolt of each look, a latching element in each lock adapted to be shifted to secure said bolt actuating means against movement, a reciprocable element mounted jacent each lock and arranged to engage the adjacent lock latch when shifted in one direction, means adjacent each reciprocable element for effecting its reciprocation, a connection between said last means for causing the simultaneous operation thereof, and means for operating the reciprocable element actuating means.
4. In a securing mechanism for a pair of doors mounted to have their free edges move into closed position adjac ent an interposed stile post, comprising a lock mounted upon each door, each lock having a bolt for engaging a keeper, means for actuating each lock bolt, an oscillatably mounted latching element in each lock adapted when moved to one position to secure the bolt actuating means against movement, a pair of reciprocable pin members carried upon the stile post and each arranged for engagement with a latching member when shifted in one direction to effect the securing of the bolt actuating means, and a reciprocable wedge element disposed between said pin members to simultaneously project the same into operative position.
5. A door securing means, comprising a lock designed to be mounted upon the door and having a reciprocable bolt for engaging a keeper, an oscillatable member forming a part of the lock and having engagement with said bolt, means for oscillating said member to eflect the shifting of the bolt, a stop lug carried by the oscillatable member, an oscillatable latching finger carried by the lock and engaging said stop member when shifted to one position, resilient means normally maintaining said finger in a position free from contact with said stop lug, a reciprocable pin member, means for supporting said pin member upon a fixed structure adjacent the lock whereby the pin member may be shiftedlaterally to effect the oscillation of said finger, and a reciprocable cam member mounted adjacent said pin member for effecting the movement of the pin into operative position.

A door locking mechanism for a motor vehicle having a pair of doors upon each side with free longitudinal edges in opposed I relation and having a stile post between the doors, comprising a reciprocable bolt upon each door engaging the adjacentv stile post, means for reciprocating each bolt, an oscillatable latch element adjacent each bolt, which when moved to one position secures the bolt against movement, a contact plate carried by each latch element and exposed upon the free longitudinal edge 'of the door a pair of reciprocable pin members mounted upon each stile post and aligned with a contact plate, a pair of wedge elements each disposed between a pair of pin members and when shifted in one direction projecting said pin members into engagement with the adjacent contact plates, means for actuating 7. A mechanism for simultaneously secur ing the four doors of a sedan automobile or a similar structure having two pairs of doors which have their free edges opposed, with a style post therebetween and in which each door carries a lock bolt for engaging the post, comprising-a pair of aligned longitudinally shiftable pin members mounted in spaced relation in each post, an element movable between each pair of pins for shifting the same lon itudinally apart, a single connecting meansbetween the pin separating elements for effecting simultaneous movement thereof, key controlled means acting on one element for effecting movement of both elements, and shiftable means adjacent each lock bolt engaged and shifted by an adjacent pin for securing the bolt agalnst movement.

Mechanism for securing a pair of doorsspaced relation in the post and when separated each engaging in an opening in t e adjacent door, an element movable between the pin members to separate the same, key controlled means for efiecting movement of said element, and means actuated by each pin when in the said opening of a door for securing the adjacent lock bolt against movement.
9. Mechanism for securing a pair of doors in which each has a lock having a bolt and a stile post adjacent its free edge, comprising a pin member reciprocably mounted in the stile adjacent each door, each door being formed to provide receiving means for the adjacent pin, shiftable cam means adjacent each pin which when shifted in one direction moves the pin into the said receiving means,
means carried by each door and actuated by the pin when extended into the door for securing the adjacent lock bolt against movement, connecting means between the cams for efiecting simultaneous movement thereof, and key operated means for efiecting movement of the cams.
