Description

POWDERY MATERIAL FEED APPARATUS Filed Aug. 31, 1931 2 Sheets-Sheet l Nov. 15, 1932. 1-. SABLIK POWDERY MATERIAL FEED APPARATUS v Filed Aug. 31, 1931 2 Sheets-Sheet 2 Patented Nov. 15, 1932 UNITED STATES PATENn reivAz SABLIK, or STRAMBERG, GZECHOSLOVAKIA-I rownnmz MATERIAL'FEED APPARATUS Application filed August 31,1931, Serial No. 560,459, and in Czechoslovakia spin 7, 1931.
This invention relates to an'apparatus for feeding powdery material such ascementand the like. K. v
An object ofthe invention is to provide 5 a compressed air feedplant, in which the material to be fed is discharged, for example by dead weight, into a reservoir until the said container is completely filled. At the upper end of the reservoir is arranged acheck' member whichis closed through the pressure of the material. The closing of the said check member. controls a medium such as compressed-air or liquid, the rod of the said check member being formed as a controlling piston operating'in a cylinder, and the movement of the controlling piston-directly or indirectly checks the admission in the reservoir ofrthe material, whereby compressed air is admitted therein, and the ma- 1 terial discharged from the container.
Anotherobject of the invention is to .provide two reservoirs which are alternately and by turns filled and discharged, the pistonof the control: cylinder operating a reversible cock which allows compressed air to enter one of the reservoirs and positively checks the passage ofrthe material into such container.
' Other objects of the invention will appea from the hereinafter contained description, wwhen considered in connection with the accompanying drawings, illustrating two embodiments of the invention and in which Fig. 1 is a front elevation ofa one-reservoir apparatus,
Fig. 2 is a front elevation, and
Fig. 3 a side elevation ofa two-reservoir apparatus.
Fig.4 shows the check members in a two-- reservoir apparatus on an enlarged'scale.
Referring to the drawings, 1 is a cylindrically formed reservoir having at its upper end a hopper 2 for the powdery material, to
which the material is fed by the piping Intermediate between the reservoir and the hopper is mounted a check member 4:. If de sired, another check member may be provided at the bottom end of thereservoir and connected to the discharge pipe 5. When the check member 4 is opened, and the reservoir 1 completely filled by'thematerial sup-.--- plied, the check member 6, which'is inserted in the cover of the reservoir, is. lifted by the pressure exerted by the-material, and will form a -seal. Through the lifting of such der 8 raises the check member 4 thus cutting off the supply tothe reservoir of the material. Through the liftingof the right endof lever .11, a lever 14 is released, said lever being 0:
secured, in the manner of a safety :valve, to 7 a check member 15 inserted in the compressed air feed pipe 16. The lever 14 is adapted to carry a sliding weight 17, moving ina guide. Displacement of the sliding weight 17-,along the gui de will alter the torque of the lever- 14 and thereby the power whichis acting on the rod 18, of check member 15 in a vertical direction. Therebyl obtain that a predetermined working pressure: provided in the 89 pipe 16 is required to open the said member, while the pressure againstwhichthe member may be closed may be substantially less.
, 7 When the check member 15 is opened, comed against the powdery material fromabove, 90
and an auxiliary pressure is simultaneously exerted at the bottom, so that the reservoir. I will be readily discharged; Since, during .such discharge, no further pressure is exerted against thecheck member 6 by the material to be fed, this member will travel downward, whereby the control slide 7 is reversed, so that the controlling medium is discharged into the exhaust-. Thereby the controlling piston Within the cylinder 8 be, reversed,
causing thereby the reversal of all the parts of the device so that new material to be fed will enter the reservoir and the working cycle begin again.
In the two-reservoir embodiment shown in Figs. 2 and 3, the control member 23, which corresponds to the control member 6 in Fig.
1, operates alike; a control slide '24 directs a control medium, which is supplied from some source, by means of an annular pipe 23, to the space above the piston of a control cylin (ler 26, while a member 27, which corresponds to the check member 23 provided within the other. reservoir, will direct the controlling medium unto the space below the piston of the control cylinder 26, by means or" a control slide 28, when the control slide is in the corresponding position, that is, when a reversal has taken place. I On the rod 29 of the piston of thecontrol cylinder 26 is mounted a lever 30 which operates a reversing member 46 such as,ior example, a cock inserted in thecompressed air pipe 81 and adapted, ac-
cording to its position, to allow compressed" member 1'5 o-f the one-reservoir embodiment and serving, inthe two-reservoir embodiment,'as an an econoiniz'er, not permitting access to the plant, of the compressed air, Until the working pressure is attained through the subsequent OPBIYEttlOll of an air condenser required for keeping the plant rim- By such temporary -'cutting o-flLI prevent excessive :clischarge into 'thedust-removing pipe of compressed air. 7 i
In Fig. 4 showing the separate parts of the control member 23011 an enlarged scale, 48 is aVva-lv-ecorre,49 the stem thereof, 50 is a c0n- 'trol slide-controlled from above by the spiral spring '51. If the valve cone is in its open position, the intake pipe 520i the controlling medium is connected with the feed. pipe 53 leadingto the top of the control cylinder '26,-
whi-le the exhaust, that is, "discharge pipe '54: isclosed. If the valve con-e48 is liited,-commu-nication between the pipes 52 and 53 is 'cut ofi and an annular duct '55 is lifted, and
raised, until it will allow the controlling medium to move from the pipe 53 into pipe '54, A washer 57 is provided'to prevent any corrosive action of the powdery material on the guide of the stem oibushing 56. A pipe 58 which is connected to the dust remover allows excessive air to be discharged.
WVhile the invention has been illustrated in what is considered its best application, it may have other embodiments without departing from its spirit and is not, therefore, limited to the structures shown in the drawings.
l/Vhat I claim is:
