This invention relates to a threading device for use in conjunction with curtain rods.

An object of the invention is to provide a device whereby-a curtain rod may be threaded into the hem of a curtain quickly and easily and without damaging the curtain.

Further objects of the invention are to provide a device of the character above mentioned which may be manufactured at small expense and adapted for use with standard makes of curtain rods.

It has been found that when such as that illustrated in Fig. 1 forexainple, which is made of sheet metal and has more or less sharp edges, is threaded into the hem of a curtain, the edges and corners on the rod a curtain rod,

Referring to the drawing in detail and in particular to Figs. 2, 3 andwi, a flat or oval sheet metal rod 1 is shown. The threading.- tip 2, which may be made ofany suitable material such as metal,'fibre, bakelite or other compositions, is adapted for insertion in the rod 1, and to this end the tip is provided with a reduced portion 4 which exactly fits'into the end of the rod 1 and is of such size and conformation that there is sufiicient friction between the rod and thethreading-tip to securely hold the tip.

Having thus described my invention I claim:

1. A curtain rod threading tip adapted for partial insertion in a sheet-metal curtain rod of tl1e ,fiat type wherein the longitudinal edges of said rod are spacedfrom one another, said threading tip comprising a body having a portion adapted to fit in the open end of said rod and having another portion with a rounded end, and said threading tip having a shoulder located at the junction of the two portions, said shoulder havin a height substantially the same as the thlckness of the metal of said rod.

2. A curtain rod threading tip adapted for partial insertion in a sheet-metal curtain rod of the flat type wherein the longitudinal edges of said rod are spaced from one another, said threading tip comprising a body having a portion adapted to fit in the open end of said rod and having another portion with a rounded end, and said threading tip having a shoulder at the junction of the two portions, the said shoulderbeing parallel to the longitudinal edges of said tip on one side and concave on the other side of said tip, the portion of said tip having the rounded end forming a "tongue between the spaced longitudinal edges of said rod, said shoulderhaving'a height substantially the same as the thickness of the metal of said rod whereby a substantially fiush'surface is presented by said rod and tip.
