SPARKING PLUG CONTROLLING DEVICE FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINES Filed Aug. 27, 1930 Patented Nov. 8, 1932 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE AUGUST BURST, OF FREIIBURG, GERMANY SPARRING PLUG CONTROLLING DEVICE FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINES Application filed August 27, 1930, Serial No. 478,155, and in Germany September 14, 1929.
This invention relates to a sparking plug ment It carries counter contacts n and termicontrolling device for internal combustion nal screws for the cables leading from the engines, which can be used especially for sparking plugs. In order that the cables can motor cars, aeroplanes, tractors and the like. be led to the terminal screws 0 arranged in- The invention differs from the known a-rside the switch element la, this latter is prorangements of this type, which consist chiefvfdcd with apertures p. In order to raise the ly of illuminating lamps arranged at a disswitch element is, and thereby bring the detant point and connected with the sparking vice into the operative position, a cam disc 9 plug by cables and the like, and which lamps is arranged rotatable under said element and can be switched in and out by a common adapted to be turned by a knob r from the switch, in that on the one hand the counter front side of the device. The base plate a contacts are yieldingly inserted and at the and the block 0 are each provided on each same time form tlie seat for the illuminating bore, at the point where the illuminating lamps which on the other hand are pressed lamp is arranged, with a window 8, so that onto their seat by means of springs which the lighting up of the lamp can be observed serve at the same time either directly or infrom the front side ofthe apparatus at each directly for resiliently influencing the shiftignition. The base plate a, owing to its able counter contacts. thickness, produces the necessary darkening A further improvement consists in that space to enable the illumination to be easily 29 the inspection apertures in the base late observed even in day light. 7

I claim 1. A sparking plug controlling device for internal combustion engines, comprising in combination with a block of insulating material having bores, illuminating lamps inserted one in each of said bores, slidable contacts one in each bore and projecting therefrom adapted to support said illuminating lamps, springs one in each of said bores 10 adapted to press said lamps against said ,slidable contacts, guide rods extending one on each side beyond the end of said block parallel to said lamps, a switch element guided on said rods, counter contacts on said switch element one opposite each of said contacts each adapted to be connected to a sparking plug, a switching device adapted to shift said switch element on said rods so that said contacts bear against said counter contacts and switch in said lamps, and a spring on each of said rods adapted to push said switch element away from said block and to break the contact between said contacts and said counter contacts.
2. A sparking plug controlling device as specified in claim 1 comprising in combination with the illuminating lamps and the block provided with bores for accommodating said tubes and having slot like inspection apertures communicating with said bores, a base plate with slot like apertures registering with the slot like apertures in said block, the apertures in said block and in said base plate forming a deep darkened space so that the lighting up of said lamps can be easily seen even in daylight.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
