rllhis invention relates to devices for hair retention, and particularly `or retaining the hair of womens and childrens bobbed heads. its principal object is to provide a. simpliiied, inexpensive, conveniently manufacturab-le, light, durable, and eiiicient device which can be worn in concealed state and wherewith the wearers hair and particularly the side locks will be retained in desired or appropriate l0 manner.

Other objects and advantages will hereinafter appear.

The hair retaining device 1 comprises a F wire band 2 ot metal or any other suitable J substance, which band may be semicircular, crescent shaped, or otherwise formed so as to lit to the rear portion of the head oi the wearer. rhe band 2 is made springy, to cause the forward or end portions 3 thereof to embrace the sides of the head with light and resilient pressure. At each terminal Ll of the band the material thereof is looped outwardly and rearwardly to form an elongated eye 5, and the material is bent over and along i the convex side 6 of the arcuate band to constitnte a hair holding and grasping means terminating in a corrugated portion 7 which bears resiliently against the exterior of the band for hair retention. A When wearing this device, the user places the same against the head, underneath the hair, in completely concealed state, as shown, and the user may then .insert the side locks into the retaining devices 5, 7 which will thereby hold the locks in retarded requisite position, as iilustrated in Fig. l. The retained side locks in turn hold back the entire bulk of' bobbed hair in the desired appropriate condition. Having thus described my invention, I claimrl. A hair retainer comprising the combination of a member adapted to concealingly locate against the rear of the wearers head and underneath the wearers hair, and each end of said member having a hair retaining device located on the exterior side thereof and adapted to engage the side locks of the wearer.

A hair retainer comprising the combination of a member adapted to concealingly locate against the rear of the wearers head '8G and underneath the wearers hair, and each end of said member being` bent rearwardly and against the exterior thereof and being adapted to engage the side locks of the wearer.

3. A hair retainer comprising the combination of a member adapted to concealingly locate against the rear of the wearers head and underneath the wearers hair, and each. end ot said member being springy and bent rearwardly upon the exterior side thereof for engaging the side locks of the wearer.

4. A hair retainer comprising the combination of a curved band adapt-ed to concealingly locate against the rear of the Wearers head and underneath the wearer-s hair, said band being springy to bear resiliently against the wearers head, and each end oi said band having a hair retaining device located on the 1Go convex side thereof and adapted to engage the side locks of the wearer.

A hair retainer comprising the combination of a curved band adapted to conceal- 5 ingl locate against the rear of the wearers hea and underneath the wearers hair, and each end of said band being bent rearwardly and against the exterior convex side thereof and being adapted to engage the side locks of l lo the wearer.

6. A hair retainer comprising the combination of a curved band adapted to concealingly locate against the rear of the wearers head and underneath the wearers hair, said band being springy to bear resiliently against .the wearers head, and each end of said band being bent rearwardly and against the exterior convex side thereof and being adapted to engage the side locks of the wearer.

7. A hair retainer comprising the combination of a member adapted to concealingly locate against the rear of the wearers head and underneath the wearers hair, and each end of said member having a hair retainin device adapted to engage the side locks o the wea-rer.
