Description

Sept. 27, 1932. E. H. KNEEN 1,879,755
CONTAINER FOR ADHESIVE PLASTER AND THE LIKE Filed Sept. 30, 1951 Elm Patented Sept. 27, 1932 UNITED STATES EVERETT E. KNEEN, OF ANSONIA, CONNECTICUT CONTAINER FOR ADHESIVE PLASTER AND THE LIKE Application filed September 30, 1931.
This invention relates to improvement in containers for adhesive plaster and the like, and particularly to containers comprising a ring and a spool with flanges adapted to enter either end of the ring, the object of the invention being a simple construction which provides means for locking the spool in the ring, and the invention consists in the construction and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter described and particularly recited in the claim.
In the accompanying drawing:
Fig. 1 is a plan view of a container for adhesive plaster and similar material constructed in accordance with my invention;
Fig. 2 is a side view of the same;
Fig. 3 is a sectional view on the line 33 enlarged;
Fig. 4: is a sectional view on the line 4-4 of Fig. 3; and
Fig. 5 is a perspective view of the ring detached.
In carrying out my invention, I employ a ring formed from a strip of metal with the edges at each end rolled outward to form beads 11 and 12. In each head, at a plurality of points, the bead is struck inward so as to form slight bumps 13 at one end and corresponding bumps 14 at the other end. The spool is of usual construction, comprising a core 15 and ends 16 and 17 secured thereto in the usual manner, and the length of the spool is slightly less than the length of the ring. The edges of the ends are rolled to form beads 18 and 19, the diameter of the ends being very slightly less than the diameter of the ring.
A spool thus formed may be entered into the end of the ring, and the entering-end 17 will spring past the bumps 13 and come to a bearing against the bumps 14; at the same time, the end 16 will pass and be held by the bumps 13.
This construction permits the spool to be entered or removed from either end of the ring and be held in the ring with sufficient friction to prevent accidental removal.
