Description
UNITED Sfrn'rns 'PATENT' OFFICE.
` ERASTUS M. KINNE, or CUBA, ASSIGNon rro SAMUEL n. TOMPKINS, or`
' i SING SING, NEWYORK.
IMPRovEMENT IN CLIPS ,FOR HALTERS.
VSpecification formingh part of Letters Patent N o. 1S7,642,l.dated February 20, 1877 application filed December 13, 1876.
To all 'whom it may concern Be it known that I, ERASTUS M. KINNE, of Cuba, Allegany county, New York, have invented an Improvement in Clips for Halters; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full and correct description of the same, ret'` `erence being had to the accompanying drawand Where straps are to be fastened together at an angle with each other.
My invention consists in combining a loop and iiange with a plate adapted to be riveted or otherwise secured to a strap.
In the drawings, A represents the noseband, B B the check-straps, and C the throatlatch, of an ordinary halter, secured together with my improved halter-clip, the subject of this @Pplication for a patent. a is a metallic plate, provided with a hole or holes for riveting it to a strap, and b is a loop upon one side ofthe plate ot, constructed to admit a strap to pass through; and c is a flange upon resting against the flange c, the top of the iiange reachingfully as high as the top ofthe strap. The strap that is to be secured at an angle to the' rst-mentioned strap is passed through the loop'b, with its end resting upon the first-mentioned strap, and in this position they are riveted or otherwise secured to the plate a).
It will be seen that when these straps are thus secured to the plate a, the loop b will hold one strap in a secure position, and the flange c, together with the side of the loop, will hold the other strap rigidly in its position, forming a secure and complete angle connection.
Having thus fully described my invention, what Iclaim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent is A halter-clip consisting of a riveting-plate havingta loop on one side and a flange on the opposite side, substantially as described.
rlhe labove speciication of my .said invention signed and witnessed, at Vlfashington, this 25th day of November, A. D. 1876.
E. M. KINNE. Witnesses:
THOMAS C. CONNOLLY,
(. M. PARKS.
