Description
Aug. 2, FESTER SHOULDER STRAP HOLDER Filed June 1, 1951 Inventor j ZZZz'e 2 725 Patented 2, 1%32 if? Tit. T
UNl'iED BILLIE FESTER, OF CLEVELAND, OHIO SHOULDER STRAP HOLDER Application filed. June 1, 1931.
This invention relates to shoulder strap iolders, the eneral object of the invention being to provide means for keeping the shoul der straps of garments from slipping over the shoulder of the wearer, and to provide means for adjusting the holder to fit different sizes of shoulder straps.
"This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to
be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and specifically pointed out in the appended claims.
In describing the invention in detail, referen ce will be had to the accompanyin g drawing, wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure 1 is a view showing the device in use.
Fig. 2 is a plan view of one form of the device.
Fig. 3 is a similar view but showing the device in open position.
Fig. t is an ed 'e view of Fig. 3.
Fig. 5 is a view of the clip or loop for adjusting the device to fit different sizes of shoulder straps.
Fig. 6 is a plan view showing a modification.
F 7 is a plan view of another modification.
As shown in these views, the device comprises a strip 1 of suitable material, looped upon itself as shown at 2, and having a male part 3 of a snap fastener attached to one end and the female part a of the fastener attached to its other end, so that these ends can be connected together by the snap fastener. A loop or clip 5 enc rcles the two parts of the memher and is slidably arranged thereon so that the clip can be adjusted on the device to make the same 1% different sizes of shoulder straps one of which is shown at A in Fig. 1.
The looped end of the device can be attached to the garment, as also shown 1n Fig.
Serial No. 541,463.
1, in any suitable manner. For instance, it may be attached by a safety pin 6 as shown in Figs. 2, 3 and e, a part of the safety pin being passed through the loop 2 or it may be attached by a hook and eye, the hook, or the eye, being attached to the looped end of the device as shown at T in Fig. 6.
Or this end of the device may be stitched to the garment, and when this is done, the device is formed as shown at 1 in Fig. 7.
Tie clip or loop 5 can be made of metal, celluloid, or any other suitable materialit will thus be seen that I have provided simple means for preventing the shoulder straps of a garment from slipping over the shoulders, it being understood that one of these devices is used for each shoulder strap. By means of the clips or loops 5, the device can be adjusted to fit the shoulder straps of different sizes.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of the invention will be readily apparent.
it is to be understood that changes may be made in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such chan es fall within the scope of the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is 1. A holder for a shoulder strap comprising a strip folded upon itself, means for de tachably connecting together the ends of the strip, means for connecting the folded end of the strip to a garment, and a clip encircling the two folded parts of the strip, and slidably arranged thereon for providing an adjustable between the clip and the fastened ends of the strip whereby the ends of the strip will receive a shoulder strap, said clip being formed of a strip of material bent to form a loop which encircles the two folded parts of the strip.
2. A device of the class described comprising a strip folded upon itself, a male member of a snap fastener attached to one end of the strip, a female member of the fastener being attached to the other end, a clip slidably arranged on the folded parts of the strip for adjusting the size of the loop defined by the ends of the strip between the snap fastener elements and the clip said clip being formed of a strip of material bent upon itself to form a loop which encircles the two folded parts of the strip, and means for detachably connecting the folded end of the strip to a garment.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
TILLIE FESTER.
