Description

July 12, 1932. E, v HEAFORD Q 1,867,005
ATTACHMENT FOR CLOTHES mums Filed July 27. 1929 v INVENTOR.
2M fm w WITNESS: M I
Patented July 12, 1932 UNITED STATES PATENTOFFICE EDWIN V. HEAFORD, OF DENVER, COLORADO ATTACHMENT FOR CLOTHES WRING-ERS Application filed July 27, 1929. Serial No. 381,550.
the rollers, especially, the upper one. This necessitates loosening the roller in order to.
remove the goods wrapped around it which 1 takes time and trouble, and while most wringers have some method of quick release it only helps to partly remedy the trouble,
and as far as I have been able to ascertain none have made provisions to prevent the happening.
My invention is designed to prevent as far as possible the wrapping of clothes around the roller. The drawing herewith will help show how this is done.
Fig. 1 represents at a glance the general shape of my invention which is preferably made of sheet metal folded along the lines 4-4 33.
Fig. 2 represents an end view 23-41 as it rests on the roller 7 at the points 11. In
Fig. 1-6 represents portion of spring in common use on most wringers to regulate pressure. In Fig. 26 shows end of said spring. It will be seen that my invention rests loosely in position so as to ride up and down with the changing position of the roller and at the same time be held from turning with the roller by its contact with the spring 6. The lower edges along the lines 1-1 Fig. l as they rest lightly along the length of the roller at the points 1l Fig. 2 at the proper angle will almost invariably prevent any wrapping around the roller.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. An attachment for clothes wringers having a wringer roll and a pressure member comprising an elongated body adapted to be mounted along one wringer-roll and having side-edges extending lengthwise of the roll adapted to strip material therefrom, and pairs of upwardly extending portions at the ends of the body, adapted to hold the body 0 movably to the pressure member.
2. The combination with a clothes Wringer including a roll and a leaf spring above the same, of a guard comprising an elongated body guided by the spring and having sideedges extending lengthwise of the roll, adapted to strip material therefrom.
3. The combination with a clothes wringer including upper and lower rollers and a pressure member above the upper roller, of a guard comprising an elongated body having so side-edges extending lengthwise of the upper roller adapted to strip material therefrom, and upwardly projecting side portions embracing the pressure member.
In testimony whereof, I hereuntov affix m :15 I
