This invention relates to collapsible paste tubes, and more particularly to a rotatable cap adapted to be permanently attached to the discharge outlet neck of said tube.
One object of the present invention is to provide a paste tube cap of the above nature which will be limited in its sliding motion in both directions.
A further object is to provide a device of the above nature which will cut olf the ribbon of extruded material cleanly and sharply without the necessity of wiping the tube upon a brush.
A further object is to provide a device of the above nature which will be simple in construction, inexpensive to manufacture, easy to install and manipulate, compact, ornamental in appearance, and very e'iiieient and durable in use.
With these and other objects in view, there have been illustrated on the accompanying drawing three forms in which the invention may be conveniently embodied in practice.

construction having one end flattened and provided with a closure clip 11, the other end of thetube having a conical shoulder 12 terminatmg in an open discharge neck 13 through which the paste is adapted to be extruded. In the first form of the invention shown 1n Figs. 1, 2 and 3, the neck 13 is provided ad]acent its top edge with a vertical orifice 14 of rectangular shape below and to one slde of which is a horizontal elongated lug 15 for a purpose explained below.
I n order to close the open neck 13 and prevent the discharge of paste through the orifice 14 until desired, provision is made of a cylindrical cap 16 having a hexagonal head 17 for convenience in manipula-tion, said cap being` preferably formed of plated brass or any other suitable rustproof material. The cap 16 is provided with a rectangular vertim cal slot 18 having the same size as the slot 14 and adapted to be brought into alinement therewith when the cap is twisted in a counter-clockwise direction as far as it will go. The twisting motion of the cap in both directions is limited by a horizontal rectangular slot 19 within which lits the lug 15, as clearly shown in Figs. 1 and 2.
To permanently lock the cap 16 upon the neck 13 of the tube 10, the slot 19 has a verso tical side slot 20 extending down through the lower edge of said cap. A reduced tongue section 21 extends from one side of said side slot 20 and is adapted to be inserted through a rectangular eye 22 adjacent the other side 85 of said slot 20. The tongue 21 is then bent backwardly upon itself, as clearly shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 3, therebysecurely locking the cap 16 in position.
In the modified form o the invention shown in Figs. 4 and 5, a cap 23 is disclosed which is similar to the first form of cap, except that instead of having a tongue and eye locking connection at the bottom, a resilient tongue 24 is provided below the horizontal 95 slot 19. While there have been disclosed in this specification three forms in which the invention may be embodied, it is to be understood that these forms are shown for the purpose of illustration only, and that the invention is not to be limited to the specific disclosures but may be modified and embodied in Various other forms Without departing from its spirit. In short, the inventionincludes all the modifications and embodiments coming Within the scope of the following claims.
Having thus fully described the invention, what is claimed as new, and for Which it is desired to secure Letters Patent, is:
