Description
March 29, 1932. w. VORWERK TAB FOR HOSE OR STOCKING SUPPORTERS Filed Dec. 14, 1929 aim firmer/f Patented Mar. 29, 1932 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE TAB FOR HOSE OR STOCKING SUPPORTERS Application filed December 14, 1929, Serial No. 414,153,,and in Germany January 25, 1929.
My invention relates to tabs for. hose or stocking supporters in which a clasp is supported in a bearing on the tab.
It is an object of my invention to protect the bearing for the clasp from wear by rubbing against the garments.
To this end I provide the clasp with a projection which extends on the outer side of the bearing and protects it from damage by con tact with garments.
In the drawings afiixed to this specification and forming part thereof a tab to which my improved clasp is secured, is illustrated diagrammatically by way of example.
In the drawings Fig. 1 is a side elevation of the tab,
Fig. 2 is an end elevation, viewed from the left in Fig. 1.
Referring now to the drawings, a is the tab, 7) is the button at one end of'the tab, d is a bearing in a boss of the tab, and c is the clasp the ends of which are inserted in the bearing d, all as described in my copending U. S. application Serial No. 339,361, filed February 12, 1929.
In a tab of this type, ing d projects on the outer face of the tab so that it is exposed to friction and wear by contact with the legs of the trousers. The wear is particularly considerable at the edges of the boss and therefore these points will wear rapidly and render the tab unfit for further use.
This drawback is eliminated according to my invention by the portions 0 of the clasp 0, which laterally adjoin the bearing, being made to extend substantially at right angles to the main portion of the clasp, which extends in parallel relation to the tab and radially beyond the circumferential portion of the bearing. These radially extending portions prevent contact of the trousers with the boss and eliminate wearing of the boss.
The clasp illustrated is made of a wire but my invention may also be adapted to clasps punched from sheet metal, the material being flanged outwardly at the sides of the bearing.
Obviously, I am not limited to a tab of the kind described but my invention may also be applied to tabs in which the bearing is the boss of the bearformed on the tab by sewing. It is only important that the clasp should be so formed as to protect the bearing from wear.
I wish it to be understood that I do not desire to be limited to the exact details of construction shown and described for obvious modifications will occur to a person skilled in the art.
I claim A hose supporter comprising a tab, a bearing formed in the tab near one end thereof, a button formed on the tab near the other end thereof, a clasp adapted for cooperation with said button, having its free ends inserted in said bearing, the portions of said clasp, which laterally adjoin the bearing, extending radially beyond the circumferential portion of said bearing and substantially at right angles to the main portion of said clasp, which extends substantially in parallel relation to the tab.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
IVILHELM VORVVERK.
