RUTARY-GHURN.
No. 173,666. Patented 1666161876.
NErERS, PHOTO-LITHOGRAPHER. WASHINGTON. D, C,
UNITED STATES PATENT QEEIGE CHARLES W. PROBST AND FREDRECH SCHREIBER, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
IMPROVEMENT IN ROTARY CHURNS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 173,666, dated February 15, 1876; application filed July 8, 1874. t
To all whom it may concern:
Beit knownthat we, CHARLES W. PEoEsT and FBEDRECH SGHEEIBEE, ofChicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, `have invented a new and useful Churn, of which the following is a specication:
The nature of this invention relates to an improvement in churns of that class wherein a rotary dash is suspended from the cover and is driven by gearing on the top 0f -the churn. The invention consists in the peculiar c011- struction of the various parts and their relative arrangement, as more fully hereinafter set forth.
Figure l is a perspective view. Fig. 2 is a cross-section at a' Y In the drawing, A represents the body of the churn, provided with a cover in three section, B B B', the central section B being removable, while the others may be fixed in place. C C are two cast -metal standards, having the hub of a bevel-gear, D, journaled in their tops, their tlan ged bases being secured to the central section of the cover. The hub has a socket for a lever, E, by means of which it may be oscillated in its bearings. The gear D meshes with and gives motion to a pinion, F, mounted on a vertical shaft, a, near its upper end, and journaled through a bearing in the covervB, its lower pendent end having a T-head, b, keyed on it, which s'traddles twocrossed bars, G, bolted on the lower end of said shaft, and from each end of said bars hangs a dash or beater, Gf, through which several holes are made. To the walls of the churn several rib-like cream-breakers, H, are secured. The upper extremity of the shaft a is journaled in a socket in the standard above.
` At the back side of the gear D a roller, I, is in Iplug-hole in the bottom of the churn.
What we claim as our invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination, with the body A of a churn, ot' the shaft a, head b, pendent dashers G', and cream-breakers H, the several parts operating as set forth.
