Description

H. V- SISCO wAs H BOILER Nov. 19, 1929.
2 Sheets- Sheet 1 Filed Sept. 7, 1938 Inventor Patented Nov. 19, 1929 UNITED S ATES HARRY V. SISCO, OF BU'RGHAIRJ), NEBRASKA WASH BOILER Application filed September 7, 1928. Serial No. 304,451.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in wash boilers and aims to provide a novel boiler structure wherein the water therein will be more rapidly heated than is now possible in use of the generally conventional type of boiler upon the market.
Generally the boiler is constructed at its bottom with a pair or more of longitudinally extending pipes or flues adapted to receive heat direct from the flame of the gas or oil burner with the obvious result that heat action is directed to a greater quantity of the contents of the boiler than is the, case in the boilers now in use.
Other objects Will become apparent as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same comprising the novel form, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, shown in the accompanying drawing and claimed.
In the drawing wherein like reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views:
Figure 1 is a side elevation of my improved boiler,
Figure 2 is a top plan view thereof,
Figure 3 is a bottom plan view,
Figure 4 is an end elevation,
Figure 5 is a detail fragmentary longitudinal section through one end of the boiler,
Figure 6 is a fragmentary cross section and Figure 7 is a fragmentary bottom plan view of one of the heat pipes or flues arranged within the bottom of the boiler.
Now having particular. reference to the drawings my novel boiler consists of a body 5 of suitable size and shape open at its top' side and. being equipped adjacent the top side and at its opposite end'with suitable lifting handles 66. Directly above the bottom wall of the boiler the end-walls'there of are provided with two or more longitudinally registering circular openings adapted for the reception of a pair of longitudinally extending pipes or flues 77 open attheir opposite ends and projecting slightly beyond the opposite ends of the boiler as clearly illustrated in- Figures 1, 2, 3 and 5. Adjacent opposite ends the bottom surfaces of these pipes or flues are provided with longitudinally extending slots 8 which slots have registrations with similar slots 9 in the bottom wall of the boiler.
These pipes are secured within the boiler by soldering, welding or the like and waterproof joints are provided between the pipes and the boiler at the point of registration of the slots in the pipes and boiler. 7
Obviously therefore when water is disposed Within the boiler and the boiler arranged upon a stove the heat radiating therefrom will pass directly into the pipes or flues 7 7 for more rapidly heating the contents of the boilerthan is now possible in the use of boilers upon the market. 7
It will thus 'be seen that I have provided a highly. novel, simple, and efficient wash boiler that is well adapted for all the purposes heretofore designated.
Even though I have herein shown and de scribed the invention as consisting of certain detail structural elements, it is nevertheless to be understood that minor changes may and scope of the appended claim.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim asnew is: r
A domestic wash boiler comprising a body including side, end and bottom walls, the bottom wall being-provided with longitudi nally extending slots therein in spaced alignment, the end walls'having openings therein with the bottom of the openings in the end Walls in longitudinal alignment with said slots, and a cylindrical hot air flue having its" opposite ends extended through the openings and provided With slots in its lower side registering with the slots in the bottom wall, said flues being secured to the sides of the openings and the sides of the slots in said bottom wall.
In testimony'whereof I affix my signature.
