This invention relates to an improvement in 'manifolding books and with respectto its more specific features-to three-copy books.

Anobject of the invention is to provide a inanifolding book wherein three copies may be simultaneously made, one of which is opaque and may be retained in the book, the others-adapted to be detached and removed.

Another object is toprovide a book of the character specified, wherein all of the leaves are'opaque, one adapted to be retained in the book,and the others'to' be detached. 7

Another object is to provide a book of the character specifiedywherein by means of two single faced transfer 'leavesthre'e copies may be made, all opaque, andone adapted to be retained in the book. I 7

the said leaves being bound with the leaves 10 of the sets at the top of the pad, and one of the transfer leaves 17 is adapted to be inserted between the leaves 10 and 11 of v the sets, while the other transfer leaf is adapted to be interposed between the topmost set and a leaf 6. Any suitable form or arrangement of lines and printed matter may be provided on the leaves, andin use the leaves 6 are the orginals, and are retained in the book as a permanent record. Each of the leaves 10is provided near the binding with a weakened line 18 for facilitating the separation of the said leaf from the binding;

' In using the-improved book, when it is desired'to make a record, the book is opened, and all of, the leaves 6 are turned backward into the position of Fig. 1. By means of a pencil or the like which maybe inserted in a notch at-the edge of the transfer leaf -16v adjacent to the binding, the transfer leaf may be turned back on the leaves 6, without the necessity for touchingthe transfer leaf. The leaf 11 of the topmost set is now turned downward, and the transfer leaf17isplaced 'on the leaf 10 of the set, after which the 1 leaf 11 is turned back upon the transfer leaf.- Thetr ansfer leaf-16-isnow dropped down,

and the adjacent leaf 6 is swung downupon the transfer leaf, as shown in Fig. 1. After the record has been made, the secondpad,

that is the pad constituted by the leaves 10-11 ;is swung away from the backing 8,

and the used leaf 6 is permitted to drop- .down upon the backing, after which the second pad is turned down upon the-used leaf.

The book is now ready for another record.

Having described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is c 1. A manifolding book including, vin com bination, a pad of original, record leaves, a second pad of sets of record leaves, and common means for supporting said pads with the boundends extending in the same direction, and with bound end of the first mentioned pad extending beyond the bound end of the other pad, each of said sets of record the upper leaf thereof whereby said original j record leaves may be superposed upon the second transfer sheet. I

A manifolding book including, in combination, a pad of sets of record leaves, each of said sets consisting only of a leaf bound at one end thereof into the pad and a second leaf carried by the free end of the first leaf and having its free end extending backwardly toward the bound end of the pad, and tWo transfer sheets bound into said pad at the same end thereof as the binding of said record leaves, one transfer sheet positioned for insertion between the leaves of a set and the second transfer leaf positionedfor superposition upon the upper leaf of a set.
