Another object of the invention is the provision of such a construction which is simple and readily made and assembled and may be formed in sections so as to facilitate installations of the larger constructions and also including the other advantages hereinafter set forth at length. n j

Referring now to the drawings the numeral 1 designates a casing which may be ot any .size or shape and may be sectional or made 1n as tew pieces or parts as possible. It is provided with the customary appurtenances tor tiring operation including the grate, fire pot, ash pit and the like, these parts not being shown because they form no part of my invention. However, 2 designates the ash pit door and 3 the lire door.
Mounted within this casing 1 are the water heating casings or elements whichinclude the combustion chamber 4, a secondary combustion chamber 5 connected with the first-mentioned combustion chamber 4 by means of upwardly extending flue 6, an outlet pipe or Conduit 7 communicating with the secondary combustion chamber 5 by means of flue 8; the outlet Hue 7 also communicates with the upwardly extending lflue 6 as at 9 and has the damper 10 provided adjacent the junction therewith. The position of the damper is regulated by the adjusting means 11. The combustion chamber 4 has its top or crown sheet 12 bent or formed with a downwardly curved portion 13 where the upwardly ex-y tending flue 6 lits the opening into the combustion chamber 4, kfor the purpose of directthe hot gases and products of combustion downwardly, as indicated by the arrows, be- 'lfere egress through the upwardly extending `flue (i. The joints of all of these parts are w ght so that the outer casing is filled with water, which has contact with all of heated casings or elements, as shown particularly in Figure 1 ot the drawing.
The secondary combustion chamber 5 is a very important feature ot this invention. It includes a iiat bottom plate or member 14 having the opening 15 at one end to communicate with the upwardly extending i'lue 6 and the opening 16 at the other end to communicate with the line 8. This plate 14 is of substantially ovoid shape (see Figure 3) and the opening 15 is much larger in cross sectional area than the opening 16. These openings correspond in size to the cross sectional areas of the flues 6 and 8, the flue 6 being much greater in cross .sectional area than the tlue 8. The dome plate or member 17 is shaped to fit the bottom plate 14 and is semi-circular in vertical transverse section discharge is less than the rate ot inlet. This construction results in very rapid heating ot the water as all of the heating surfaces of the casings or elements are in contact with the water which substantially surrounds all ot the surfaces, thereby giving the possible area ot cont-act between the water and the heating surfaces. he construction of the combustion chamber croi sheet or top plate causes the gases and pre ucts of combustion to be directed baclv down over the lire and thus causes what mi ht be termed a second combustion ot the individual particles which otherwise would pass directly into the flue 6. The hot gases and products of combustion then pass through ilue 6 into the secondary combustion chamber 5 through kwhich they pass relatively slowly and subjected to theV whirling action of the 'fresh air or oxygen and mixing therewith produces a secondary combustion. These hot gases and products of combustion then pass downwardly through the-flue 8 into the outlet tine 7. This outlet lue 7 has a direct connection with the upwardly extendingr line 6 which is open when tiring or shaking down the ashes,as is well understood.
What I claim is 1. A heater of the character described including, in combination the following` elements, a heater casing, a combustion chamber therein, a secondary combustion chamber located above said tirst-mentioned combustion chamber, an upwardly extending flue connected to said two combustion chambers, an outlet flue, a connection from said secondary chamber to said outlet flue, all of said parts having watertight joints and adapted to be surrounded with water within the casing so that the water is heated by contact with the walls ot the combustion chambers and the tlues speciiied, an air supply conduit entering said upwardly extending ilue near the bottom thereof and extending along the side ot the same and having an open end within said secondary combustion chamber.

A heater ot' the character described including, in combination the following elements, a heater casing, a combustion chamber therein, a secondary combustion chamber located above said iirst-mentioned combustion chamber, an upwardly extending flue connected to said two combustion chambers, an outlet liuc, a connection from said secondary chamber to said outlet flue, all of said parts having watertight joints and adapted to be surrounded with water within the casing so that he water is heated by Contact with the walls oi"- the combustion chambers and the lines specified, an air supply conduit entering said upwardly extending flue near the bottom thereof and extending along the side ot the same and having an open end within said secondary combustion chamber, said discharge end being` curved so as to dir ct the discharge oi' the air in a curved path into said secondary combustion chamber.

A heater of the character described including, in combination the following elements, a heater casing, a combustion chamber therein, a secondary combustion chamber located above said first-mentioned combustion chamber an upwardly extending flue connected to said two combustion chambers at the side thereof, an outlet flue, a connection from said secondary chamber to said out-let flue, all of said parts having watertight joints and adapted to be surrounded -with water within the casing so that the wat-er is heated by contact with the walls of Y the combustion chambers and the flues specilied, said first-mention combustion chamber having a crown plate shaped so as to direct a substantial partor" the products ot combustion downwardly over the ire before entry into said upwardly extending flue, this construction being provided by diverging downwardly a portion of the crown plate adjacent one edge of said upwardly extending flue.

A heater of the character described including, in combination the following elements, a heater casing, a combustion chamber therein, a secondary combustion chamber located above said first-mentioned combustion chamber, an upwardly extending flue connected to said two combustion chambers, an outlet flue, a connection from said secondary chamber to said outlet flue, all of said parts having watertight joints and adapted to be surrounded with water within the casing so that the water is heated by contact with the walls of the combustion chambers and the flues specified, said secondary combustion chamber being of a general ovoid shape. in horizontal cross section with the larger end connected to said upwardly extending flue and the smaller end communieating with said connection to said outlet flue.

A heater of the character described including', in combination the following elements, a heater casing, a combustion chamber therein. a secondary combustion chamber located above said first-mentioned combustion chamber, an upwardly extending flue connected to said two combustion chambers, an outlet flue, a connection from said secondary chamber to said outlet flue, all of said parts having watertight `joints and adapted to be surrounded with water within the casing so that the water is heated by contact with the walls of the combustion chambers and the fiucs specified, said secondary combustion chamber being of a general ovoid shape in horizontal cross section with the larger end connected to said upwardly extending flue and the smaller end communicating with said connection to said outlet fiue and also being semi-circular in vertical transverse cross section.

A heater of the character described including, in combination, a casing adapted to be entirely filled with water and having a combustion chamber therein, a secondary combustion of chamber therein located above said first-mentioned combustion chamber, a flue element extending upwardly and directly connected to said combustion chambers, an outlet flue and a connection from said secondary combustion chamber to said outlet Hue, said secondary combustion chamber including a flat bottom plate and a dome plate or member semi-circular in vertical transverse crosssection, said bottom plate being ovoid in shape and having an opening at one end to receivejthe upwardly extending flue and `having a smaller opening at the other end for the connection to the outlet flue.

A heater of the character described including, in combination, a casing adapted to `be entirely filled with water and havinga combustion chamber therein, a secondary combustion chamber therein located above said first-mentioned combustion chamber, a flue element extending upwardly and directly connected to said combustion chambers near the sides thereof, an outlet flue and a connection from said secondary combustion chamber to said outlet flue, said first-mentioned combustion chamber having its crown plate shaped so as to direct a substantial part of the products or" combustion downwardly over the fire before entry into said upwardly extending flue.

A heater of the character described including, in combination, a heater casing, a combustion chamber therein having a flue opening at one side with the crown plate turned downwardly adjacent the flue opening so as to direct the products of combustion downwardly over the lire before entry into said upwardly extending flue, a secondary combustion chamber within the casing located above said first-mentioned combustion chamber, an upwardly extending flue connected to said first-mentioned combustion chamber and to one end of said secondary combustion chamber, said secondary combustion chamber being formed of two parts, one a fiat base plate and the other a dome semicircular in vertical transverse cross section, an out-let flue and a connection from said secondary combustion chamber to said outlet flue, said elements all having water-tight joints and the casing being adapted to be filled with water which substantially surrounds all of the surfaces of the elements.

A heater of the character described including, in combination, a heater casing` a combustion chamber therein having a flue opening at one side with the crown plate turned downwardly adjacent rthe flue opening so as to direct the products of combustion downwardly over the fire before entry into said upwardly extending fiue, ra secondary combustion chamber within the casing located yabove said first-mentioned combustion chamber, an upwardly extending flue connected to said first-mentioned combustion chamber and to one end of said secondary combustion chamber, said secondary combustion chamber being formed of two parts, one a flat base plate andthe other a dome semicircular in vertical transverse cross section, an outlet flue and a connection from said secondary combustion chamber to said outlet flue, said outlet flue extending horizontally into said casing and also having a connection with said upwardly extending flue, said elements all having Water-tight joints and the casing being adapted to be llecl'wth Water which substantially surrounds all I the surfaces of the elements.
