This invention relates to a clothes drier,
the primaryobject of the invention being to provide a clothes drier of the sectional type, novel means being provided for reinovably connecting the sections so that the sections vide sections constructed that they may be placed one upon the other to increase the height of the drier, or may be secured to provide driers of various forms to facilitate the drying of articles of particular constructions.
With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangemei'it of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, may be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.
Referring to the drawings:
Figure 1 is an elevational View of one of the sections of a clothes drier constructed in accordance with the invention.
Figure 2 is a plan view of a clothes drier positioned on a stove or drying surface.
Figure 3 is an elevational view illustrating the manner of connecting the sections when the sections are arranged one above the other to lengthen the drier.
Figure 4 is a fragmental perspective view illustrating one corner of the drier when the drier sections have been placed to form a rectangular drier.
Referring to the drawings in detail, the drier includes a plurality of like sections, each section embodying spaced parallel rods 5 and 6 respectively, and transversely disposed rods 7 connecting the rods :3 and 6 at points adjacent to the ends thereof, and a rod 8, connecting the rods 5 and 6 at points intermediate their ends.
The rods 5 have their upper ends curved laterally as at 9, the extremities of the curved portions 9 being formed into loops 10 for purposes to be hereinafter more fully described.
As shown more clearly by Figure 1 of the drawings the transverse rods 7 and 8 have one of their respective ends formed into an eye or loop 12, while the opposite ends thereof are extended downwardly at right angles as at 13 to fit within the eyes or loops 12 of the adjacent section when the sections are brought together in the formation of a rectangular drier, as shown by Figure 2 of the drawings.
Should it be desired to increase the height of the drier, one section may be positioned above another section in a manner as shown by Figure 3 of the drawings, whereupon the eyes 11 of the upper section will fit over the upper ends of the rods 6 of the adjacent lower section, while the lower ends of the rods 5 will fit into the loops or eyes 10 of the adjacent lower section, locking the sections together in such a way as to insure against the sections becoming disconnected under the weight of the articles supported thereon.
It will of course be obvious that when the sections have been connected in the formation of a rack, the loop portions or eyes 11 at the lower ends of the sections will act as feet to rest on a supporting surface and hold the drier in an upright position at all times.
It might be further stated that in the use of the device articles may be hung over the various rods, and the drier may be positioned on a stove, in a manner as shown by Figure 2, the heat from the stove passing upwardly through the articles to dry them.
I claim:
A clothes drier including a plurality of sec tions, each section comprising a plurality of vertical rods having laterally curved upper ends terminating in loops, a plurality of vertical rods disposed between the first mentioned rods and having loops at their lower ends extended at right angles defining feet, a plurality of transverse rods secured to the vertical rods and arranged in vertical spaced relation with each other, a loop at one end of each of the last mentioned rods, each of the last mentioned rods having a downwardly extended end, and the downwardly extended ends of the rods of one section being fitted in the loops of the transverse rods of the adj acent section.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto afiixed my signature. JAMES 'P. HIGH.
