My invention relates to improvements in steam or hotwater boilers.
he object of my invention is to provide a novel steam or hot water boiler which is simple, cheap to make, durable, not liable to get out of order, which is economical of fuel, and which is eiiicient in operation.
My invention provides further novel means tlior supporting a sectional boiler, which aflords additional heating means, improves the circulation of the water in the system.
The novel features of my invention are hereinafter fully described and claimed.

Provided in one side of the casing 1, may also be openings 9 and 10, one above the other, and connnunicating with the fire box 0. and normally respectively closed by doors 11 and 12.
This side of the casing 1 may also be provided with a large opening 13, normally closed by a door 14. This opening 13 permits access to the sectional boiler which is. within the casing 1.
The top of the casing 1 has a central vertical smoke pipe 15, which is spaced from and discharges into the lower flaring end of a llue pipe 16, which communicates with a suitable line, not snown.
'lhe tubular boiler comprises a plurality of sections disposed one above the other in u e casing 1, and each section comprising two horizontalheaders 17 connected with each other by tubes 18. Each header 1'? on its under side has a central inlet 19, and in its upper side a central outlet 20.
'lhe lowermost and uppermost sections have horizontal tubes 18, Fig. 1, while the. tubes 18 of the intermediate sections are inclined and arranged in ig-nag manner adjacent sections having their tubes 18 inclined in opposite directions, that is alternately to the right and left.
Short nipples 21, preferably push nipples, forming conductors for water or steam connect the outlets with inlets 19 of those headers which are close together, and longer nipples 22 connect those headers which are farther apart.
As shown in F 5, the outlets 20 of the uppermost headers 17, and the inlets 19 or the lowermost headers 17 have respectively seated in them yokes 23. Two vertical threaded rods 2 1 respectively connect the upper yokes with the lower yokes 23, said rods extending through the nipples 21 and 22 adjacent thereto. Nuts 25 on the rods 24 bear upon the yoltes 23 for holding the sections and nipples tightly together.
For supporting the boiler, two vertical stand pipes are provided each comprising a vertical tube 26 having its upper end mounted in the acent inlet 19 of the lowermost section, the lower end of the tube being mounted. in a T 27, the lower end of which is mounted on and closed by a foot member 28 which rests on the floor of the casing 1 in the lire box 8.
Connected respectively to the Ts 27 are two water return pipes or conductors 29,
which lead from opposite sides respectively of the casing 1 to the radiators, not shown of the heating system.
Two steam or hot water discharge pipes or conductors 30 are respectively connected to the outlets 20 of the uppermost section. The pipes 30 connect with the aforesaid radiators.
Two horizontal pipes 31 respectively conncct the two return pipes 29 with the headers 17 of the lowermost section, the latter serv' ing as crown sheet for the tire boX.
A conductor 32 connecting one of the return pipes 29 and one 01 the pipes 30 includes a water gauge 33, by which the height of the water in the boiler may be ascertained.
For extending the travel out the gaseous products of combustion upwardly through the sections between the tubes 18, I provide battle members comprising plates 34, one of which is shown in Fig. 2, which rest upon and are disposed between and wholly supported by the tubes 18 which are adjacent to each other in each section. Said baiile plates extend from the lower header of each intermediate section toward, but are spaced from the upper header of each intermediate inclined section. Baii'le plates 34 need not be provided on the uppermost and lowermost sections.
As shown in Fig. 1, the battle plates 34 will be'disposed alternately on the right and left sides of the boiler, so that the gaseous prod nets in passing from the fire box 8 will take a sinuous path, as indicated by the arrows, Fig. 1.
By having the uppermost and lowermost sections horizontal the water entering the boiler and discharged therefrom will be divided into equal quantities passing respectively into the pipes 30. By mounting the stand pipes, which support the boiler, in the tire box, the water passing therethrough will be heated, and by providing the connecting pipes 81 with the return pipes 29 and the headers of the lowermost headers, the circu lation through the boiler and system is accelerated.
The disposition of the inclined tubes of the intermediate sections assists in a natural way the upward movement of the water therein and of the heated aseous products at their outer sides.
In the operation of the apparatus, the cold water enters the stand pipes from the return pipes 29, cooling the stand pipes suiiiciently to keep them from being burned out, and is heated thereby. The water then enters the lowermost section, and passes from the header outlets by the adjacent nipples 21 and 22 lnto the inclined intermediate section next above, and from thence through the other sections to the uppermost section from which the steam or hot Water is discharged into the pipes 30.
I do not limit my invention to the structure shown and described, as many modifications, within the scope of the appended claim, may be made without departing from the spirit of my invention.
What I claim is In a boiler, a casing having a fire box and a smoke outlet, boiler sections disposed one above the other in said casing, the lowermost section being connected interiorly adjacent to its opposite ends with the section next above, two discharge pipes connected respectively to the uppermost section adjacent to its ends, two stand pipes in said fire box respectively communicatingwith said lowermost section adjacent to the ends thereof, and two return pipes each having two branches, the branches of one return pipe connecting respectively with one end of said lowermost section and with the adjacent stand pipe adjacent to the bottom end thereof, and the branches of the other return pipe connecting respectively with the other end of said lowermost section and with the other stand pipe adjacent to the lower end oi the latter.
