Description

A. L. MOYER.
VENTILATO-R.
Patented 1m. 21.;1875.
N. PEIERS, PHOTO-LITHOCEHAPHER. WASHINGTON. 0 C
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.-
ALEXANDER L. MOYER, OF SHERMAN, TEXAS.
IM PROVEMENT IN VENTILATORS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 1 71,409, dated December 21, 1875; application filed June 18, 1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALEXANDER L. MOYER, of Sherman, in the county of Grayson and in the State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ventilators and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying draw ings, and to the letters-of reference marked thereon, making apart of this specification.
The nature of my invention consists in the combination of a vane with an induction and an eduction pipe for ventilating purposes, as will be hereinafter described.
In the annexed drawing, which represents a vertical section of my invention, A represents the vane, which has a flaring. mouth, B,
- and a hollow tail, 0. This vane is connected to a hollow cylinder, D, and has passing down i from its bell-mouth a tube, F. The cylinder D has an opening at I, which communicates with the hollow tail 0. The cylinder is in two parts, and the lower part is marked E. To this lower section E is connected a pipe,
' F, which has its upper end so formed as to fit snugly into the lower end of pipe F, and thus form a direct connection. G represents an eduction-pipe, which leads into the cylinder D E. The-vane is placed at the top of a house, or building, or mine to be ventilated, and the pipe F F passes down into said building or mine. The fresh air iscarr'ied from the bell-mouth B down through the pipe from the chamber which it is required to ventilate. I propose to keep the inside surface ofthe foul-air passage blackened, while the fresh-air passage will either be bright, or of bright metal or painted White. vThe walls of all these pipes and cylinders may be made double or single, as may be most desirable.
Having thus fully described my invention,
'what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The vane A, with flaring mouth and hollow tail, in combination ,with the cylinder 1.), and the induction-pipe F and the eduction-pipe 'G, as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 4th day of May, 1875.
, ALEXANDER L. MOYER.
