one reason, or SANDOVAL, ILLINOIS.
Application "filed September upon barbers aprons, or other aprons of this character where a neck opening is iorinedto permit the apron to hang overv and cover the shoulders of the person using the same. f'ln aprons of the type at present in use, the neck bands are secured in place usually by pins and it frequently happens that the person about whose neck the band is being secured 1SV1I1- ured when the band is being placed in position or they are subjected to extreme discomfort by reason of the fact tha the band is drawn and pinned too tight. 7 An important object of the present ii 'ention is to over come the tloregoing diliieulties by providing a neck band of an improved character whereby no pins or other fastening inex-ins of this character are employed and while the band will be held securely in place, there *ill be sulilcient give to prevent any uncomfortable binding of the band. v
The invention broadly contemplates the provision of a band having a series of buttons ateach end and upon the outer face thereof, and secured to the band intermediate its ends is a pair of tapes. hen the bandis placed in position, one end is located over the back of the neck after which the other end is brought into overlapping relation thereto so that its upper edge will engage under the buttons of the underlying end.
The ends of the tapes are then drawn about the neck over the band and tied with the upper edge of one of the same engaging under the buttons of the outer end of the neck band. v
A further object of the invention is to pro vide means whereby the neck band of an apron of the character described may: be quickly and easily placed in position without the employment of fastening elements other than those forming a part of the band structure. I v
The invention. will be best understood from a consideration of the following detailed description takenin connection with the accompanying drawings forming part of this specification, with the understanding, however, that the invention is not confined to any strict conformity with the showing of the drawings but may be changed or modified so long as such changes or modifications mark no material departure from the salient features of the invention as expressed in the appended claims.
in the manner shown.

In the drawing :a
Figurel is a perspective view of the upper portion of the barbers apron carrying the improved. neck band embodying the present ntion;
Figure 1, is view oft-he outer. face of the collar band in opened out condition,
Referring to the drawing, the numeral 1 indicates generally an apron of the type used by harbors or hair dressers, the same being open and designed to hung'loosely over the customers shoulders.
About the edge of theneck opening of the apron is secured the improvedjn-eck band embodying the present invention, this band being indicate, awhole by the numeral 2.
It is intended that the present collar band be made up for application to the neck openings of aprons the same as those bands used upon shirts, the lower edge of the band being stitched to the edge of the apron neck openinp; along its lower edge asindicated at 3.
At each end, the band has secured thereto edge of the band so thata portion thereof will project above the upper edge of the band Secured to the face of the band intermediate its ends, as at 5, is a tie-up tape indicated as a whole by the numeral 6', this tape being attached intermediate its ends, thus providing the free portions or strings 7 I When the apron carrying the present improved band structure is placed in position about the shoulders of a customer the neck,
band is secured by first bringing one end to pos1t1on across the back of the customers neck, as for example, the left hand end, after.
which the other end is brought into overlapping, relation thereto with its top edge engaging under the buttons of the underlying end. After thus positioning the band ends the strings 7 of the tape 6 are drawn about the neck band and t ed together, the top edge of one of the strings ei'igagring under the buttons of the outer neck band end int-he manner shown.
From the foregoing description taken in connection with the drawing, it will be seen that there will be interlocking relation set up between the buttons and the collar band ends.
wardly toward the neck of the customer to bear thereagainst. It Will also be seen that While the connection made between the band ends Will be secure and Will be sufliciently tight to prevent hair or water from going down the customers neclr, it Will not be so tight as to be uncomfortable as there Will be sufficient give to prevent this condition.
Having thus described my invention What I claim is 1. A neck band structure of the character described, comprising a band body, buttons carried upon each end and upon the outer face of the body, said ends being (ltnigned to be engaged in overlapping relation with the upper edge of one end engaging under the buttons of the other end, and means extending over theovcrlapped ends of the band for holding the same in position.
2. A collar band of the character described, comprising a band body, button members an ranged in spaced relation upon the outer face of the body adjacent each end thereof, one end of the band body being (lesi 'ned to overlap the other end and to have its top edge engaged under the buttons of the underlying end, and
means carried by the band and designed to be secured over the overlapping ends and to engage beneath the buttons of the outer end to hold the ends in position.
' 3. A collar band comprising a band body, a plurality of buttons arranged in spaced relation upon the outer face of the body adjacent each end, said buttons being arranged to project above the top edge otthe band, one end of the band being designed to overlap the other end with its upper edge engaging under the buttons of the overlapped end, and tie strings secured to the band and designed, to be drawnthereabout and tied, with the upper edge of one thereof engaging beneath the buttons of the outer end of the band.
In testnnony whereof I hereunto ailix my slgnature.
