J. r. ROBERTSON.
TOY-TRUNDLE. I
No.171,045 Patented Dec. 14, 1875.
W|TNE55E'5: INVENTUR:
. agi/W4 yam ATTDRNE Y.
N. PETERS, PHOTO-LITHOGRAFHER, WASHINGTON, Dv C4 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN F. ROBERTSON, OF CHESTER, NEW YORK.
IMPROVEMENT IN TOY TRUNDLES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 17 1,045, dated December 14,1875; application filed September 22, 1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN F. ROBERTSON, of Chester, county of Orange and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toys, of which the following is a specification:
My invention relates to toy trundles; and it consists in the construction and arrangement of a handle and frame, Within which is a wheel having cranks upon both ends of its axle, and a jointed toy figure seated upon the frame, with its feet upon the cranks, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, which forms a part of this specification, and which represents a perspective view of my toy.
A represents a handle of any suitable dimensions, having its front end enlarged and slotted longitudinally from the extreme end inward, as shown. Upon this end of the handle A is erected a frame, B, extending up over a wheel, 0, which is placed in the slot in the handle, and has a rod, a, passed through its hub. The ends of this rod pass through the prongs of the handle, and form cranks b I), which are bent in opposite directions. On the frame B is seated a toy figure, D, the legs of which are jointed at the knees and thighs, the feet being made fast to the cranks b b. On pushing the wheel by the handle the toy is caused to work the same as a boy riding a velocipede. The arms of the figure D are placed on a handle, E, as it for steering, and from said handle projects a flag, Gr.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The toy trundle herein described, consisting essentially of the handle A, velocipedeframe B, wheel 0, with its crank-axle a, and the jointed toy figure D, all constructed and arranged to operate substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention, I hereunto affix my signature this 4th day of September, 1875.
JOHN F. ROBERTSON.
