HEADFRAME FOB MAST HOISTS.
Application filed November My invention relates to improvements in material handling apparatus and has particu-lar reference to the type of apparatus for elevating' such material. as wet concrete and the like to a predetermined height and then delivering the same by conveyor chutes to the point at which it is desired lthat the material be deposited. y
One of the objects of my invention is to provide an improved means for supportingv and mounting the head trame and associated parts to which the material is delivered trom the elevating bucket. y
F or the purpose of disclosing my invention I have illustrated one embodiment thereot in the accompanying drawings in which Fig. 1 isa side elevation of a mast hoist and its accompanying equipment embodying my invention;
Fig. 2 is a detail in rear elevation ot the head trame;
Fig. 3 is a plan view of the head frame'7 and Fig. 4 is a detail view showing the dumping mechanism of the bucket.
In the embodiment ofk the invention illustratedI provide a mast l on which the various parts are suitably supported` andwhich preferably comprises fourangle iron posts 2 suitably laced together `by lacing and bracing strips 3. This mast has operating thereon a suitable dun'iping bucket 4 which is moved vertically on the mast by operating cables. At the `elevated or delivery` point of the bucket on the mast there is provided a head trame including a receiving hopper 5 into which the bucket 4- is adapted to dump. This hopper is preferably mounted on the front side ot' the mast and on the same side as the hoisting bucket. I use the expression front side ot the mast as designating` that side away trom the point of delivery. However this term is relative' and is merely for the purpose ot distinguishing thedift'erent sides of the mast rather than specifically positioning the parts with respectto any particular building or apparatus.
The receiving hopper delivers to a suitable chute 6 which projects to the opposite side or rear tace of the mast and in turn delivers the material to the hopper head 7 of the conveyor chute 8. This conveyor chute at its inner end is supported from and adjacent tothe mast and is inclined downwardly and outwardly to deliver into a second'chute or to any selected point of delivery. has its outer end supported from the mast by means of a suitable guy cable 10 which preterably extends from a ypoint near the top ot the mast to the outer extremity of the chute.
In addition to the bucket a' I provide on the inner face or rear tace oit the mast a vertically movable hoisting platiiorm 11 which may be operated. by suitable hoisting cables 12 and which may be used. ior elevating material of various kinds.
Near the upper end and on the inner i'ace of the mast I mount a supporting frame which comprises the vertical members 13 connected at their tops and bottoms by cross members 14 and suitably braced by diagonal braces 15. This trame is connected to the posts by inwardly extending arms 16 projecting from the tops and bottoms ot' the side members towards the mast and provided with guide lips ,17 which embrace the edges of the angle post-s 2. Securing bolts are passed through thes-e'lips tor securing the frame in position on the mast and these guide lips also provide guiding means for the frame when they same is moved vertically on the mast from one position to another. The trame is provided with a pair of extended ears 18 at its top and bottom to which is hinged the receiving hopper frame 19, which frame comprises a vertical member 2O prfvided with a pair of ears 21 overlapping the ears 18 and having openings coinciding with the openings insaid ears for the accommodation of lthe hinge rod22. y horizontal hopper supporting arm 23 extends from this vertical member 2() and is secured at its 'tree end to the hopper 5 and a pair oit diagonally extending arms 211 extend from the topl and bottom of the vertical member 20 and are secured to the bottom of the hopper 5 whereby the `hopper is hingedly supported by its frame from the head iframe. During the normal operation of the apparatus, however,V the hopper remains in a iixed position and in order to maintain the hopper in its proper relation with respect to the dumping position of the bucket a brace 25 extends from one arm 16 of the head frame to the top arm 23 of the swinging frame to hold the swingingframe against movement. The hopper 5, due to the fact that the swinging frame extends diagonally along one side of the mast, is supported at the front tace, in an offset position, of the mast7 and is provided with a hopper bottom 26 delivering into the transversely extending chute 6, Vwhich chute at its delivery end is supported at the pivotal center of the hinged hopper frame and at its receiving end extends beneath the hopper bottom 26 of the hopper 5.y
The bucket l is of the hopper bottom type and is provided at its delivery mouth with a hinged gate 27 normally urged in a closed position by a suitable spring 28 operating against a stop 29 on the bucket and against a stop 3() on a rod 3l connected at 32 with one of the side members of the gate Q7. The delivery mouth of the bucket co-operates With a bridge chute hinged at 34 to the hopper 5 and normally maintained in nonbridging position7 it being thrown into bridging position as the bucket rises by a roller 35 operating on a cam member 36, in a manner described in my co-pending application Serial No. 12,356, liled May "i5,
I. claim as my invention:
l. In an apparatus 'for handling building material the combination with a mast, of a bucket vertically movable on one tace of said mast, a head frame mounted on the opposite face of said mast, a delivery chute supported from said head trame and a chute hopper supported from said head 'frame in a plane beyond the plane of the bucket i'aceof the mast and delivering into said delivery chute.

In an apparatus for handling building material the combination With a mast7 of a bucket vertically movable on one face thereof, a head frame mounted on the opposite face of said mast, delivery chute supported from said head frame, an arm supported from said head frame and extending transversely of the mast, and a chute hopper supported from the opposite end of said arm and delivering into said delivery chute.
