My invention relates to holding or fastening devices i'or cables and is particularly adapted for securing a plurality or span wires to a single point ot support in insulated relation thereto.
rThe objecto my invention is to provide a device which will have contained therein means tor securing it to a single point of attachment on a support and connecting thereto a plurality of cables and having means thereon which are adjustably secured to the device in flexible relation thereto tor grip ping the cables.
My invention resides in the new and novel construction, combination and relation oil the various parts hereinafter described and shown in the drawing accompanying this specification.
In the drawing Fig. 1 is a top plan view of my invention arranged for four attachments and insulated 'roin the point of support.
Fig. 2 is a side view in elevation of my invention shown in Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a view in partial section on the line 3-3 of Fig. 1 showing the attachmentot the cable thereto.
Fig. 4 is a fragmentary view oi' the main iitting arranged to be attached directly to a support without the intervening insulator.
In the preferred embodiment of my invention I use a body member 1 which has an arc shaped portion 2 of circular formation as shown in Fig. 3 and provided with a plurality of grooves 3 to receive the cables 4. The member 2 is hollow and open at the ends and provided with inwardly projecting and spaced ribs 5 forming an arcuate recess 6.
The portion 2 is provided with projecting and spaced arms 7 from the ends of the portion 2. Disposed between the ends of the arms 7 is an insulating member 8 provided with transversely spaced holes 9-9 having their axes at right angles to each other to receive the pins 10 and 11. The pin 10 passes registering openings in the ends of the arms 7 to attach the member 1 to the insulator and the pin is held in position by means of the cotters 12.
Secured to the insulator by means of the pin 11 is a yoke shaped member 13 having the arms 14 which are provided with registering openings to receive the pin 11 held in position by the spring cotters 15. The member 13 is provided with the eye member 16 and the opening 17 to receive a fastening bolt 'to the supporting member which may be a trolley pole.
Positioned in the arcuate groove 6 are clamping members 18 each provided with a neck portion 19 and a head portion 20. The head portions Alit loosely within the groove 6 and rest against the faces oi the flanges 5 and are free to slide from end to end in the groove 6, but are prevented from removal by means of the cotters 21. The clamps 18 are also provided with a portion 22 which is an extension of the portion 19 and is iitted with grooves to receive the cable 4 which is looped about the portion 2 and rests in one of the grooves 3.
The clamps 18 are provided with a complimentary clamping member 23 which is held in position by means of bolts and nuts 24 which are positioned in registering holes in the members 22 and 23. The members 22 and 28 are provided with co-operating grooves which form the channels 25 for receiving the cable 4.
The arcuate portion 2 is provided with the proiecting lips 26 which add to the support o' the cable 4 and avoid the cable engaging with abrupt corners on the portion 2. The end ci the lips 26 are spaced apart forming a slot 27 through which projects the neck portion 19 or" the clamp 18.
The portion 2 may be supplied with the form of connection shown in Fig. 4 if desired in place of the arms 7 and eliminates the use ci th insulator 8 at least in the combination saown in Fig. 1.
The arrangement shown in Fig. 4 is proyvided with the arms 28 which connect to the ends of the portion 2 the same as the arms 7 and the arms are also connected to the holding portion 29 provided with an eye 30 similar to that shown as 16 and 17 respectively in Fig. 2 thus permitting the attachment of the portion 2 directly to the supporting member without the une of an insulator or an insulator lt will be recognized that the span wire is held in clamped relation with respect to the portion l by means of the ileXible attachments l18 which move universally relative to the portion 2 to allow the span wires to move relative to the portion 2 and to each other or independently, freely and naturally than if the span wire was clamped rigidly to the member 2 or similar device.
lt will be noted that the strain between the members l and 18 is talren up by the insulator 8 and the insulating material is under compression which is superior to placing it under tension and the members 10 and Yll are interloclred should the insulator be broken and "fall away.

Having described my invention, l claim l. A cable device comprising a body member having a hollowed out arcuate portion open along one side and arms projecting therefrom being spaced apart and having registering openings adjacent their ends, a yoke shaped member having arms and means of securing theyolre to a support and registering openings adjacent the ends of the arms, an insulator interposed between the arms ot the said members andholding the plane of each pair oi arms at right angles and the arms si aced and insulated and securing means passing through the openings ot each pair of arms and through openings in the insulator to hold the members and insulator tof gether, the arcuate portion having grooves in its outer surface opposite the side opening and a clamping` member movably mounted in the hollow Vor the arcuate portion and projecting through the side opening-to receive and clamp a cable seated in one of said grooves.

A cable device comprising a pair of arms spaced at one end and having registering openings therethrough and integrally connected at the other end by a tubular menr ber having an opening along the side away from said arms and inwardly projecting spaced ribs within the member, clamping means mounted within the hollow of the tubular member and projecting therefrom to receive a cable and seated against the said ribs when inruse and means to secure the arms to a support.

A cable device comprising a pair of arms spaced at one endand having registering openings therethrough and integrally connected at the other end by a tubular member `o receive a cable looped there around and having an opening along the side away from said arms and inwardly projecting spaced ribs within the member, clamping means mounted within the hollow of the tubular member and projecting therefrom to receive and grip said cable and seated aga-inst the said ribs when in use and means to secure the arms to a support.

A cabledevice comprising a pair of arms spaced at one end and having registering openings therethrough and integrally connected at the other end by a tubular member having a plurality of spaced means along its outer surface to receive cables looped about the member and having an opening along the side away from said arms and inwardly projecting spaced ribs within the member, clamping means mounted within the hollow ot the tubular member and project'n therefrom to receive said cable and seated against the said ribs when in use and means to secure the arms toa support,
5. A cable device comprising a pair of arms spaced at one end and having registering openings therethrough and integrally connected at the other end by a tubular member having an opening along the side away from said arms and inwardly projecting spaced ribs within the member, freely movable clamping means mounted within the hollow of the tubular member and projectf ing therefrom to receive a cable and seated against the said ribs when in use and means to secure the arms to a support.l

A cable device comprising a pair of arms spaced at one end and having registering openings therethrough and integrally connected at the other end by a tubular member having an opening along the side away from said arms and inwardly projecting spaced ribs within the member, clamping means mounted within the hollow of the tubular member and projecting therefrom to receive a cable and seated against the said ribs when in use, the projecting portion of the clamping means provided with a separately formed portion to clamp the cable and means to draw the portions into clamping relation to the cable and means to secure the arms to a support.
