Description

Patented 1.0, 1.931
UNIT-ED STATES PATl-:nr-oFFICE m SCANZE ANDYHEINZ KALFKA, OIE` BERLIN, GERMANY TAPPING- DEVICE FOR CLOSED'VESBELS l kApplics'ltiontiled June 24, 1929, Serial No. 378,415, and in Germany February 4, 1927.
' This inventionrelates to an arrangement for tappin liquid by means of pressure from vessels. e arrangement utilizes an air pump in order Ato produce in the upper p0rtion of the vessel a gas pressure, which forces the liquid through a Siphon pipe to the discharge. The novelty `of the invention 'consists in that in the Siphon pipe a closing ele-4 comparatively high overpressure and then,v
by deeply depressing the piston, to make the liquid ow out with the aidpor1 the accumulated pressure without freshv pumping.
trated by way of example in the only figure in the accompanying drawing. @n the vessel 1, i. e. a bottle, a split ring 2 and'on the same a packing ring 3 are mounted.
0n the ring 2 a sleeve 11 is screwed into the upper end of which the tapping device -5 is screwed. This tapping device consists of a pump cylinder 6, in which a piston 7 can be moved in downwarddirection against ,the
action of a spring 8. To the tapping device k5 a Siphon pipe 9 is connected which has an enlarged portion 10 at the upper end. In this enlarged portion a liquid valve l1 with push rod 12 is accommodated, which is heldin the closing position by the actionof a spring 13. A channel 14 connects behind the valve 11 the enlarged portion 10 with the discharge 15. The .piston 7 c has an air hole 16 through which airl can iiow in from the outerv side atV the ascending ofthe piston 7 through the hole 17, a suction valve 19 and a channel 21. 'The valve 19 is constructed like a disc movable ina chamber 18 and which, at they descending movement of the piston 7, closes the opening.l
'17 and'prevents thus from escaping the air which has to be compressedin the cylinder 6. At the ascending movement of the piston the disc 19 bears against ribs20 below it so that the air current flowing around the disc 19 can low through the intervals between the ribs 5 0 2O to the channel 21 and. into the cylinder u6. The piston is packed on. the Wall of the vcylinder 6v by a leather disc 22, secured in position by a nut 23.
The compressed air flows through the chan- .55 nel 24 and throu h the ejecting valve 25, after overcoming the goroe ofthe counter sprin 26, into the upper portion of the bottle l. gThe valve 11 is pushed downward by means of the push rod 12 in opposition to the actionpf the o0 spring 13 and opened as soon as the lowest portion of the piston 7 strikes against the top end of rod 12, which is then depressed by lth descending piston. An embodiment of the invention is illus--l 1n order to prevent the compressed air es- 65 caping from the bottle 1, a packing 27 is inserted between the socket 4 and the tapping device 5", and a packing 28 is inserted between the socket 4 and the neck of the bottle 1. The air compressed with the aid of the air pump 7U .presses consequently upon the liquid level 29 and forces the liquid, instantaneously after v the opening ,of the valve 11, to flow out through the siphon pipe 9 and the channel 14 to the, discharge 15. Y v.'
The invention may be applied not only to bottles but-'also for other receptacles. Differ-l ent liquids, water, lemonade, benzine and others, can be tapped.' The permanently tight closing and the overpressure in the bottle are important just for liquid liable-t0 catch le. For other liquids the factis important that .liquid can be tapped-with the aid-of the arrangement, however not lled into the bottle thisbein'g materialfor the control of the natu e of the contents of the vessel.
e claim: y
A `A tapping device `for closed vessels, com,-
Iprising in combination withv an air pump 9,
adapted to produce an overpressure in the vessel, a tapping conduit consisting of a discharge on said teppnoP device of a si hon pipe in the vessel and 0I an enlarge top end of said siphon pipe, a valve on said enlarged top end of the Siphon pipe, a push rod 1lp- Wardly projecting from said valve, and a piston in said air pump adapted to act upon 3he top end of said push rod of said valve when it is in its lowest compressing position.
In testimony whereof We aix our signatures.
