My invention relates to anew and useful with a suitable thrust bearing 14 on its end improvement in a Whirligig in which apluside to engage the upper end ofthe hub 7' rality of radially extending seat hearing when this seat bearingsupport is positioned members are rotatably mounted and.pro-' on thepo'st or standard 12. members to each other and serve as reinforcements so that a relative movement of the seat supporting'members is prevented, thus ellmmatmg any twlstmg or undue movement which might destroy the balance of the structure. a a
It will be noted that the angularly turned ends 1 1 forma bed for the bracket, thus assuring a smooth running of the, device when 7 the crank shaft 26 is rotated and the seat caused to travel on its support around the central post or standard 12. I 7
It is believed obvious that the device is simple in its structure, while at the same time,it is durable and one which may be easily and quickly moved from place to place.
While I have illustrated and described the preferred form of my invention,- 1 do not wish to limit myselfrto the precise details ofstructure shown, but desire to avail myself of such variations and modifications as come within the scope of the appended at right angles to the axis of said supporting standard; a circular track po-' sitioned on said angularly turned ends of said legs; a plate rotatably mounted on said standard; a plurality of seat supports projecting outwardly radially from said plate;
a pair of spaced bolsters mounted on each of said supports; hearings on said bolsters; a crank shaft rotatably mounted in said bearings; and a wheel on said crank shaft engaging said track.
2. A Whirligig of the class described, com prising: a hub; a supporting standard secured to and projecting upwardly from said hub; a plurality of legs secured to and projecting downwardly and outwardly from bolsters mounted on each of said supports; bearings on said bolsters; a crankshaft rotatably mounted in said bearings; a wheel on said crank shaft engaging said track; a seat on said seat supporting member; and pedals on said crank-shaft accessible to a person occupying-said seat for rotating said crank shaft. A w I 3. A Whirligig of the class described, comprising a hub; a standard projecting upwardly from said hub; supporting legs for said hub, the ends ofs'aid supporting legs being angularly turned to lie in a plane perpendicular to the axis .of said standard; a track'engaging said angularly turned ends of said legs; a plate rotatably mounted on said standard; a plurality of outwardly projecting portions on said plate; a seat supporting member secured toand projecting outwardly from each of said outwardly proecting portions; a pair of. spaced bolsters depending from said seat supporting memher; a brace connecting the innermost of said bolsters to said seat supportmg member, ad acent said outwardly'projecting portion to which attached; a shaft rotatably mounted and extending between said bolsters; and a wheel on said shaft and engaging said track.
In testimony whereof I' have signed the foregoing specification.
STANLEY MOCLELLAN.
