COMBINATIoN `GAS TANK` AND rIrLING NECK Lock"v Application ltiledl Aprily 24,
This invention relates to new and improved means for locking the fuel tanks of motor vehicles.
An ob'ect of the invention contemplates y the provision and arrangement ofa locking mechanism operable from the inside of the: vehicle. l 7 y Another object of the invention contemplates a means of connection between' the closure cap and'locking means `to prevent binding and`breakage therebetween. v
Wit-h the above and other objects in View, the invention further consists of the following novel features and details of construction, to
be Vhereinafter more fullyvdescribed, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and pointed out in the appended claims.
In the drawing c Figure 1 is a fragment-ary sectional view 20 takenthrough a motor vehicle body and fuel tanktherefor illustrating the arrangement o y the invention in elevation. n, l
Figure 2 is a front elevation of a locking plate employed with the lock. .n
Referring to the drawing in detail wherein like characters of reference denote corres ondingparts, the referencefcharacter 1() in icates generally a fuel tank having a filling neck 11 disposed atan inclination thereon and carrying a closure cap 12. The above construction is old and usual and forms no part of the presentl application lfor Letters-. Patent. The tank is located at a level belowv the seat structure of the vehicle bodyand in y spaced relation to the riser 12 therefor.
The present invention comprises the 'follow-f f ing construction.
A headed stud 14, having the shank therefor passed through an opening in the closure 40 cap 12 for swivel connection therewith, is
joined at its innermost end with the adjacent link of a chain 15. A wire or other flexible element, indicated as at 16, having connection with the remaining end link of the chain 16, is extended throughout the remaining width of the fuel tank and passedthrough a sleeve coupling 17 arranged upon the outside of the tank preferably at the intersection or corner between the top and si-de walls of fuel tanks.y

siphonin'gthe same through`y the Although We have described and illustrated our invention as being primarily designed for use upon and in con]unction with motor vehicles and the closurev caps for the fuel tanks therefor, it is obviously understood that thesame arrangement may be used as a means for remotely controlling the removal and replacement of closure ca s etc., the. latter instance is cspecially true 1n the securin of the filling pipes l1aving`connection wix burners and the like.
The invention is susceptible of various chan es in its form, lproportions and minor inside storage tanks for oil ing one of the links' and abutting the immediate end of a companion link.
In testimony whereof we afx our signatures.
