This invention relates to new and useful nates'a fiat metallic disk which is provided improvement on wheel hub protectors and with a centrally disposed opening for the more particularly to a device of this character passage of the hub 2 of the wheel. As clearwhich is intended for use especially on the 1y illustrated in Figure 3 of the drawings, the

It is to be understood that addiacter which may be expeditiously mounted on tional means, such as soldering, welding or 15 a wheel of conventional construction without rivets may be provided for securing the sleeve the necessity of altering the same in any manon the disk if it is so desired. ner and which will eifectively prevent dirt, The frusto-conical sleeve 6 extends inmudor sand from falling from the wheels on wardly overlthe' inner portion of the wheel to the inner portion of the hub and thus gethub and over the outer portion of the reting into the wheel bearings and causing the tainer 8. r a i premature wearing thereof. A metallic annulus 9 is provided-with an Another important object of the invention inturned'integral flange 10 on its outer maris to provide a hub protector of the character ginal edge for abutting engagement with the set forth embodying a construction which disk 1 and the opposite marginal edge of said will prevent mud or weeds from accumtilatannulus is mounted on an'intermediate poring on the protector itself. tion of the sleeve 6. It is believed that the many advantages of a Wheel hub protector constructed in accordance with this invention will be readily understood, and although the preferred embodiment of the invention is as illustrated and described, it is to be understood that changes in the details of construction may be had which will fall within the scope of the invention as claimed.
10 lVhat is claimed is 1. A wheel hub-protector of the character described comprising a plate adapted to be mounted on the wheel in a manner to encircle the hub, a frusto-conical sleeve mounted on the disk and extending laterally therefrom around the hub and an annulus' having one end mounted on the sleeve and its opposite end mounted on the disk.
A wheel hub protector of the character described comprising a flat metallic disk adapted to be mounted on a wheel concentrically with the wheel hub, means for detachably securing the disk to the wheel spokes, said disk having a centrally disposed opening for the passage of the hub, a frustoconical sleeve having its smaller end extending through the opening in the disk, an integral out-turned flange on the smaller end of the sleeve engaged with the disk in a manner to retain the sleeve thereon and an annulus encircling the frusto-conical sleeve and having one of its marginal edges secured to an intermediate portion of the sleeve and its other marginal edge secured to an intermediate portion of the disk.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
