Description

\/\/IT[\|EEEEE= INVENTU I v N. PETERS, FHOTILUTHOGRAPHER, WASHINGTON, D O.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFIcE.
OLE BORRESON, OF LA GROSSE, WISCONSIN.
IMPRQVEMENT m SAD-IRON HOLDERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 178,401, dated June 6, 1876; application filed March 9, 1876.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, OLE BORRESON, of La Grosse, in the county of La Orosse and State of WVisoonsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Flat-Iron Holders; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use it, reference being bad to the accompany drawings, which form part of this specification.
My invention relates to an improved holder for fiat-irons; and it consists in the arrangement and combination of parts, that will be more fully described hereinafter, whereby a simple, cheap, and effective holder is produeed.
The accompanying drawings represent my invention.
a represents a sheet of leather, cloth, canvas, or other suitable material, of any desired shape, size, or length, to which are secured, in any suitable manner, a number of strips of wood, 0, which are separated from each other a suflicient distance to allow the part a to be folded or closed tightly and freely together. Driven into the under side of one of these strips are two or more staples, d, through which is passed one branch of the bent wire 6. This wire is bent, as shown, the bent end being fastened to one side of the guard; then one branch is passed through a hole on the opposite side, and the end bent so as to form a hook, g, in which the end of the other branch catches. By loosening the end out of the hook, the part a can be removed at will. Extending across over the top of the part a is the guard 0, lnade of sheet metal or other suitable material, which binds the entiredevice to the hand. The wood, being a non-conductor of heat, and being sufficiently thick to keep a space between the handle and the part a so that the air can circulate freely through, the hand is efl'ectually guarded from heat.
Having thus described my invention, I claim- The combination of the sheet a, strips 0, wire 6, and guard 0, substantially as set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 26th day of February, 187 6.
OLE BORRESON. [1,. s.] Witnesses:
ARTHUR MAGUIRE, ,JOHN AUGUSTIN.
