This invention relates to new and useful improvements in sacks and more especially sacks used in picking cotton.
The principal object of my invention is to 5 provide a construction whichvwill not only make the sack slide more easily along the ground, but will render the sack more durable and thereby greatly prolong the life and usefulness thereof.
With the foregoing and other objects in View that will appear as the nature of my invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts illus- 5 trated in the accompanying drawings and more particularly pointed out in the appended claim. a
In the accompanying drawings, which are for illustrative purposes only and are there- 0 fore not drawn to scale:
Figure 1 is a side elevationvof a cotton picking sack, constructed in accordance with my invention. I
Figure 2 is a similar'view, looking from 5 the opposite or bottom side.
Figure 3 is a vertical transverse section, taken on line 3-3 of Figure 2.
Referring to the drawings for a more par ticular description of my invention and in 0 which drawings like parts are designated by like reference characters throughout the several views, A indicatesmy improved cotton picking sack, which is preferably made about three feet in width and fromcfive to ten feet in length. The sack is end with a shoulder strap 1 and at one of its lower cornerswith a weighing ring 2, which is used to hang the sack in weighing the cotton. The sack is usually made entirely of canwas or similar-material, but in carrying out my invention,'the lower end of the bottom 1 side3 of the sack is cut away and with a corresponding strip 4 of rubb er, which marginal edge, as at 5, to the overlapping flap 6 of the bottom side 3 and stitched 'or other wise fastened at its marginal bottom and side edges 7 and 8 to thebottom and side edges9 and 10, respectively, of thefront side replaced is attached or otherwise secured at its upper 11 of the ably extends about one-third of of the sack.

The rubber strip or bottom of the sack will also ton after protect the cotton from water'and mud and thereby enable the picking of cotheavy rains. It is often the case that a rainy season is experienced when the cotton is opening fast,
with more than one picking open in the field; open cotton always dries quicker than the ground, but to pick before the ground dries would result in damaged picking is my lmpro I grades. However, such rendered practical with the use of ved sack- From the foregoing description taken in connectlon with the .dlflWlDgS, it is thought that the construction and advantages of my Will be'readily understood without invention requiring Having claim' as new and Patent, is. c
