The object of this, my present invention, is the provision of an extremely simple, cheap but thoroughly efiective means for stifi'em ing the frontal edge portions of a soft fold collar, for holding the same properly spaced and for likewise retaining the tie properly positioned between the said edges of the cover and also. holding theknot of the tie in shape.

To the attainment of the foregoing the invention consists in the improvement hereinafter described and definitely claimed.

In the drawings: Figure 1 is a front elevation illustrating the improvement, the tie being in place.

Referring now to the drawings, the numeral 1 designates a soft turnover or fold collar of the usualconstruction and for distinction the frontal edges thereof are indicated by the numeral 2. Between the fold and each of the frontal edges I insert a pointed element which may be termed a pin 3. These pins, of course, are of difi'erent lengths to correspond with the size of the collar or with the frontal edges thereof. Each pin 3 has its upper. portion bent, as at 5 4, to rest against the inner'face. of the collar,

the said bent portion having a return bend 5 which has its end downwardly extended, as at 6, in parallelism with the pin proper. The portions 6 merge intobutwardly extending parts 7 and 8, respectively, the parts 7 being provided with aterminal open eye 9 and the part 8 being provided with an open hook 10 to be engaged in said eye 9.

A simple construction as above described will not only effectively reinforce but hold the frontal edge portions of the collar 1 in proper spaced relation and will also preventthe curling of the peaks at the front frontaledges of the collar. In addition to this the 0 angle portions 4 reinforce the rear of the col- I lar. The open eye parts 7 and 8 serve as contact elements'for the knotted portion 11 of a bow tie, as disclosed by Figure 1 of the drawings. Thus the improvement not only serves to reinforce and'sustain the collar in proper position upon a shirt but likewise holds the bow of the tie properly arranged between the frontal edges of the collar.

By reference to the drawings it will be seen that the coengaging open eyes on the respective members comprising the improvement are in the nature of substantially semi-cylindrical elements and are arranged one at a right anglewith respect to the other so that the said open eyes ma be easily and quickly connected or readily 'sassociated.

I am aware that devices for this purpose have heretofore been employed and consequentlymake no broad claim to such construction.

Having described the invention, I claim: An apparel collar attachment of the class described comprising two substantially counterpart members, each comprising a pin element insertible into the seam of a respective one of the front flaps of a soft turn over collar, the pin having a laterally extending portion at its upper end bent back upon itself and a portion extending downwardly from the end of the back bent portion and beside the upper end of the pin and providing bridging portions which are inclined downwardly toward each other from the lower ends of the i last mentioned portions, the bridging portions having openv eyes at their ends disposed at right angles to eachother and mutually, separably engaged, the said downwardly in-- clined portions, in the applied position of the members of the attachment, extending below the front button holes of the collar wherei by to constitute a rest for the rear side of the knot ofa necktie tied about the collar.
